I rather enjoyed POTBS, if for a brief period, and yes there will undoubtedly be similarities but come on dude.... Disappointed.... Really???? Your having a laugh. POTBS was a fine game in its day and similarities are bound to be present being as they are loosely based on the same time period and the same area of the world. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have to agree with the others in that it would certainly be nice with a more in depth explanation as to how you arrived at yours? Also to repeat what others have already said: Remember to keep in mind that we're still in the alpha stage here, thus many things will no doubt improve drastically along the way. So don't despair just yet

Blackjack Morgan Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 PoTBS was a pretty damn good game early on in my opinion. Comparing it to NA, however, is a pretty big stretch unless you want to say the are similar due to both being Age of Sail and taking place in the Caribbean. Outside of that NA isn't even close to finished to even compare to be honest. Both are Age of Sail but also taking on very different approaches toward gameplay.

For games based on the same thing in the same area around essentially the same dates, you're going to see quite a few similarities. I'm sorry, but that's just the hard truth of it.

The fact that someone is perhaps a little disappointed with the similarities does not demand a dogpile of abusive comments. This similarity will not disappear when the game leaves Alpha, either. While I really enjoy this game and have yet to find serious fault with how things are going, I find it a little disturbing that this community is so easily incensed and prone to attacking other members who may share critical opinions of this game. Negative opinions have no merit if they are incoherent. If you don't explain your views, your criticism cannot possibly be constructive. The OP is just whining, and contributes nothing more to the forums than a random spam post about cheeseburgers or Justin Bieber. 2
Harry White Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Bill, I understand where you are coming from, I don't think my post was all too bad, I try to keep it as polite as possible but, there is always a but, this has been raise seven million thousand trillion times, I counted people play the ow for a max of 2-3 hours, then cry that the game looks silly, all they have done is leave port, sail around an island and go 'wahhhhhh look the game isn't anything like they said'. If they were to actually take a ship, even a lynx, then sail across the map, I bet they would stop moaning, that's why everytime I see someone with 5 posts moan, I ask their hours, because we are here to test, and unless you put in the time, most of your points will be made off of other people's experiences, and yours may be completely different if you actually put in the time. BTW every time I said you, I wasn't aiming it at you bill, I was aiming it at the whole forums.

As for your point, I agree; I just hope that other people don't feel shy about expressing themselves because threads like this could put them off: even if their posts are admittedly better than the post made by the OP here, which I agree should be much more detailed.

OP - If you'd like to further explain why you're dissatisfied with the game, please utilize the feedback threads to provide specific complaints so that they can be taken into account by the Devs.

Interested to hear. What did you expect? The battles are very different. The OW could be compared to Potbs in many good features; just like Newton we all usually stand on the shoulders of giants.

Well yeah, they're right. The OP didn't even say anything to support his claim so technically we can do it but sometimes I would agree that the moderators can be somewhat annoying & bias in some cases. I've only seen a few open-minded ones. Back to the point, OP say something to support your claim and I'll argue back, thanks for the feedback.
