Right, I have been asked several times if I would be able to create a guide showing all of the different gun classes and what ships have which class of gun. It is obviously a work in progress so if you do have any information on what ships have which class of gun it would be much appreciated if you could let me know. Anyway here it is!

I have no idea...  Seem to be no speed upgrades on the one I looked at.   Stats (bow, stern, sides, turning rates, speed) vary 'cause of the upgrades, sometimes dramatically. I just tried to find basic ones or as close as possible to the basic.   

 

 

Those base speed values for Merc, Trico and Reno (on the bottom) are from Admin's words here.

Thankyou for this. This is something missing from the menu among other things. I had no idea which cannon to buy for my new cutter.

Well I had an idea from books but not in game. Also they need to add hogging and sagging or damage caused by over loaded vessels due to installing very heavy cannon.

 

The other thing that surprises me is that it looks like the cannon cost more than the ship if I need to buy them individually which I assume I do. I guess that could be right for a small craft like the cutter.

Hey, no problem. But before you buy a bunch of cannons, you only need to purchase 1 cannon to fill a deck (both sides included).

 

Also, when you move the guns to a ship with a larger broadside you magically get the extra guns needed for it.

What is this 'Armor Value' rating referred to with the different wood types.  Is there a way to track that and see what ships have what base 'Armor rating'?  Like the difference if any between Frigate and Belle Poule.

However, what is the differende between the gun classes before and after the slash?  On the same gun deck f.i. [8-9]/[8-8] ?

it means that you can mount 8 class long/medium gun [8-9] or 8 class carronade [8-8]

IIRC the pirate one has more crew. Can someone confirm this for good after EA open ?

Pirate frigate has more crew and also bigger guns on the weather deck
