Problems playing UG Gettysburg on a 13 inch Macair

Does anyone have any suggestions on placing Ultimate General on a Macair using the trackpad.  I cannot get the trackpad to exercise the commands for troop movement and such.  At times it will work, but most of the time it will not.  I have tried just about all imaginable combinations in regards to troop movement.  I can select a unit, but am unable to move it.  I travel alot and was hoping that the trackpad would be operative for this game.  Thanks
