Angst Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Hello guys, The in-depth and realistic ship combat sounds very interesting and I'm eager to give this game a try! However, I'm wondering what type of game this is going to be. Is it going to be a multiplayer game where people host their own server and others are able to join? Or is it more like a MMO? I'm guessing that "Open World" means no instanced areas which typically refers to a MMO. The game itself reminds me a lot of Mount and Blade Warband but instead of running around with character you're sailing with a ship. Will their be persistant progression? Or do you start all over again each round? Thanks in advance, - Angst 2
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 There are a number of threads that address these questions. Please start in the General Discussion Thread and look at the stickied threads, then when you're done with that go to the Open World Discussion forum and look at the stickied threads there. You want threads started by "Admin". I'll give you some quick answers: This will be a server based game - you won't host your own server. It will effectively be an MMO. There will be a persistent world. We do not expect that there will be any "rounds" or "resets". Avatars have not been announced as an immediate development goal, so you can expect that you will be a ship for now. There will be a progression system, however, there will also be a partially detached "Skirmish" mode that will allow for those that just want quick combat action to jump into a round and duke it out with the enemy yardarm to yardarm. Here is a great thread to get you started: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/4735-faq-the-open-world/
admin Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 The game itself reminds me a lot of Mount and Blade Warband but instead of running around with character you're sailing with a ship. Mount and blade has instanced combat. Naval action as well. In general: Naval Action is an exciting, realistic naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas. 1
