Martin de Crow Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) I've seen videos on YT of NA Sea Trials, somes masts falls down during combats : Nice ! But I was surprise that within a few minutes (or even seconds) they got repaired : 1st, 2nd and even the 3rd section of the mast. It seems to me not realistic and I don't think it could have been repaired in combat, and even more for the 3 sections. It's possible a ship could have had some spare parts and repair at sea after combat or in port. But I'm sure this work needs a big part of the crew, hours of work and a calm sea for reinstalling a new section. For exemple, during the construction of a ship, a crane was needed. In addition, I think it's not really fair for the captain that manages to cut off the mast of his opponent. The other one got a malus in speed and in maneuvering but it should stay until the end of combat. Otherwise I don't see the interest to have the ability to break masts, only holes in the sails would be enough (less speed) ? PS Sorry if the question was already asked, I haven't found it.
