In terms of premium ships you have a response which says 'yes as long as they are done correctly'

If there will be premium ships then i think they should only be cosmetic. If you make a ship premium that isn't based on cosmetic value it cannot be overpowered or under powered and thus give you no advantage. Considering any ship can in theory beat any ship what would you be paying for other than the cosmetic value?

In terms of a player cap limit

I'm against having a cap once this game starts getting a huge amount of people i have a feeling it may balance itself out (in terms of the largest nations). For instance obviously countries like Britain, France, Spain, USA will have the largest amount of the player base. Therefore i don't think one 'super clan' will be formed. However if we are looking at the smaller player bases for nations like Sweden etc etc they will struggle once this game has a bigger player base because most people will have sided with the biggest nations. But in no instance i believe a cap should be put on to stop people from being able to play the nation they want to play. I feel that its not the best course of action. Maybe there is some alternative to try to make people play nations other than the biggest ones but putting a cap on it is not one of them.

Most of these have already been decided and probably won't be changed by the devs.

The question about premium ships is loaded.  You need a plain yes.  My answer to that is a plain Yes.

Durability system is fine.  Without durability (keep the ship forever, which is just plain dumb), it takes out the major expense of the game and will ruin any kind of econ we have.  The durability system is perfect in terms of not having to buy a ship every time you are sunk.  It would suck big time without it.  Without it, you will spend all your time looking for ships, cannons and upgrades and not fighting combat.

Cap on clans?  Why?  What historical thing would a cap model?  And if there is a cap, clans will just form alliances like in Eve.  Instead of on the Open World everyone in TDA being in TDA, I would be the leader of the TDA Oak Heart Squadron Clan, Northern Wolves would be the leader of the TDA Wolf Pack Squadron Clan, Leviathan would head the Sea Beasts Clan, Chustler would lead his squadron, Saint might head up an administration clan or instead lead one of the Squadron clans, but we would all be working together as the same clan in an alliance.  We would still be a "Super Clan."  We would still have our website, and all work together.

1. 5 durabilities for most ships, unlimited for premium ships

2. No, switching nations at will would create options for cheating.

3. Friendly fire is realistic

4. Premium ships are a big yes!

5. No cap on clan/soc size

6. Mostly solo...but maybe if If I find the right group I'll try group play.

Do you think players should be able to switch nations at will?

As i chose 'Other' and you want to have an explanation here it isMy suggestion:

  • Restrict the number of times you can switch allegiance to the rank of the player.
Known turncoats will not be so popular if you have to suspect they will leave your side again quickly once a new nationality serves their interest more. Also, if the person is very powerfull you might forgive him once more on the offchance to get a strong ally, but why bother with this little trader in his brigg, who already left 2 countries before? On the other hand: sailors are a very international bunch, and pressgangs did not mind if the new guy was english or american or german or whatever, even on warships. As a captain is more powerfull and more important than a normal sailor, it should still be allowed but restricted.
  • In addition, if old and new nation are currently at war -> loss of real estate and rank in the territory of the old nation.
Under these circumstances, he is a traitor after all, and in most nations that would warrant the death penalty at that time, wouldn't it?
