Bolitho Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Some 30 notifications hit my inbox. Spam from India. Is there no way to stop this? 2
ThePandanator2 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 My guess is that the moderators have already banned the account. That seems the reasonable things to do.

Tief N Tote Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 rofl i was so tempted to start the same topic
Jack Freedom Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 There has to be measures to stop them before sign up. Create a more complicated captcha to solve. Maybe a question/answer as well.
maturin Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Every PM has a report button on it, next to reply. Hit that button immediately; don't delay. 1
Arvenski Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 If the forum moderators here are looking to get advice in dealing with spambots from someone more experienced, I'd suggest emailing one of the global moderators or administrators on the Taleworlds forum. That forum gets a lot of spambot traffic (and I know, because I've been a member there for almost 3 years now), and the mods have had quite a lot of experience with dealing with bots and perfecting techniques to use against them (as far as I know they've gotten good at banning a lot of bots before they can post, for example). They're pretty friendly to talk to, so I think they'd be happy to answer your questions.
Arvenski Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I've also gotten a big increase in spam email in my Yahoo email account lately. I didn't know if that was related to the increase in spam here, since that's the email account I used to register with.
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Some configuration changes have been made to reduce the issue. My understanding is that the forum software used here has a bug that Spam Bots are using to create problems - it's been an issue on some other forums that use the same software. We'll continue to stay on top of it - please us the report button if you have any issues and we'll get it taken care of. Thanks!
