Tief N Tote Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I know this is a tricky topic but thought i should bring it up. What is the policy on sharing an account not that i intent to do it now but hear me out. A buddy on p.o.t.b.s. used to let his 2 kids play on his account some how the devs realised this account was being shared and he was perma banned from the game. my kids are starting to get interisted in games and one loves this one so far. If i allow said child to play arround with my account and someone goes hey some 6 year old is using tief's account what will happen?
Jeremiah O'Brien Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I think it would only become a major issue if your kid did something like fire on a friendly. As long As everything is controlled and supervised, it should be fine, but who knows what the devs stance on it would be.
admin Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 The game is distributed through Steam. When activating the key you sign steam EULA agreement. (standard valve eula, that 125mln of steam users signed) If you share your steam account with someone else it is your personal choice, and we are not familiar with potential penalties that steam might put on you for sharing your steam account. You risk all your games on that account + your payment details.
Prater Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 If it is on the same computer, I hardly consider that sharing, and that was pretty dumb of PotBS.

Prater Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Ya, I was mainly referring to the original story above. Even if people share steam accounts, I think you can only be logged in to one machine at a time.
Vosper Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Actually no, not anymore, im usually logged on to 2-3 at once, and if they are in the same house I can stream games from one to another.
Asbo Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 There is a facility on steam to share your account with family it requires a 4 digit code for the persons involved in this it's family but if you provide that for a friend then you leave yourself open to abuse and it's your fault steam will not take any responsibility at all. This four digit code is meant for adults to keep kids from entering into games they are not meant to have access too and I know several of my friends abuse this by sharing with with friends too. Hope this helps you can find out more under steam>Settings>family>
Osseon Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Steam is completely okay with you sharing your account with other people in your family, that is why they came out with steam family share. Your library can be shared with up to like 10 computers freely. When the account owner is playing, no one else can use his account. If someone else is on they get like 5 minutes to save their game and quit or they are kicked out of the game forcefully. With that in mind, letting your kids use YOUR steam account and YOUR games, is 100% legal and fair use of your rights as a steam game owner. My best friends and I all share our accounts with each other, honestly with the amount of gaming we do we never really can play each other's games full time, but it is a nice way to demo games we are interested in (or sneak a few hours while another is in class) 2
Tief N Tote Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 ok i know steams policy and if the devs are going by that policy then cool
