Sir Darric Vandhelm Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 My 2cents is hold of on this until: Damage model is completed for release Open world is completed for release Economy is completed for release Politics are completed Ships are completed Then upgrade after the game goes gold if viable. I care more about gameplay then fluffy stuff like extra crew on decks. 1

Game less complete (current stage)= easier to port JRT 2

Devante del Nero Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 thats very much assuming the business model will support this cost and delay. Dev time is precious, and what will this bring? Actual game play or shiney shiney. Certainly shiny shiny, but another feature of U5 is much more efficient memory usage. At least from what I've seen of devs and independent stress testing using the same animation/equipment between U4 and U5, U5 renders at a much higher frame rate. And the point remains that the sooner it happens, the easier and less dev time it would be.
admin Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Unity 5 is not yet stable and is a big risk. Certain things work differently in Unity 5 and there is no cheap way back once you migrate to the new engine. We want to test the game not the engine. 4
Stephen Decatur Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Cities skyline -> Unity 5 - Huge Success Pillars of Eternity -> Unity 5 -Huge Success by induction Naval Action -> Unity 5 - Huge Success anyhow good to hear it's on Unity .

Unity 5 Not only that, i would like to see at least a captain on dek and first mate on the rudder and crew on dek, working on de rigging. The ships look beautifull but they look deserted (except for the gun crew). And if the statement on better animations at a low cost of FPS is true, this game is going from a beautifull to a very beautifull game. Imaging seeing the gun's recoil pushing them back in. So i wait patiently, and already happy that the developers are willing to udate unity 4 to unity 5 so maybe these kind of things are possible in the future of Naval Action. Pad Seayew Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Personally I'm fine with a ghost ship. It's kind of irritating seeing one man on a gun crew. It's fine if you squint your eyes a little, but please no "first mates". Whatever that means.

I don't know which naval rank stood behind the wheel in english? In Dutch it's called a "stuurman" but if there are crew on the guns there must be somebody behind the wheel!? I understand that a game engine has it's limits, but with unity 5 maybe whe can see some more detail on those already beautiful ship's, and not only crew but put some objects on dek to, it looks so clean.
