The "HOME" key View.

After inadvertantly hitting the "HOME" key i got stuck in this view.How does one revert to the "normal" view?

Hit 2 more times.

Edit: 2 more times, or the number of times required to get you back into normal view.

#1 is free cam (where you were stuck).

#2 is lock free cam.

#3 is back to normal.

First Home unlocks the camera.  Second home causes the camera, in its current position, to travel at the same speed and direction as your ship, and the third press sends you back to ship view/control.

If you scroll your mouse wheel up a bunch while the camera is unlocked, it will speed up the camera movement really fast.  I use it in storm a lot just to find ppl.
