Megiddo Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Check out this old video of the HMS Implacable and being scuttled... Kinda sad, but understandable given the time (right after WWII nobody could spend money keeping her). 2

TheJRT Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Beautiful, but a very saddening sight too, pity it was sunk. Anyway, does anyone know what ship the ship that we first see at 1:16 is ? -JRT

I think the other ship was HMS Trincomalee's sister ship, or something like that. Edit: No, wait, I think that was HMS Trincomalee, when she was known as Foudroyant. M G Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Gentlemen, we can rebuild her, we have the technology, we have the capability to raise her from the depths. Edited March 14, 2015 by M G 1
Gunsight1 Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 This was an absolute crime, such an incredible historical relic to survive so long just to be towed out and sunk I remember reading about this and seeing there was massive public outcry about the scuttling of HMS Implacable.
Sir Cloudsley-Shovell Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 That is a sad video.I remember seeing Foudroyant in Pompey Harbour when i was based at RNH Haslar in the 70's.
CommodoreWesley Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 They were going to do that to the USS Consitution... Praises upon children donations that manage to keep her afloat!
