You can do. Just copy the refit Design, give it a new name, save again and it should work.

That's 100% not what he's asking for and you know it. He wants to be able to build the new design while it's still considered the same class by the game.
This would be incredibly useful, especially for destroyers and light cruisers, of which I have 50 or more. When I expand I don't want to have to spend extra time building the old design and refitting it or introducing a new class that doesn't deserve to exist due to not being different enough.

Why should it be the same class? Is there a need to be? Besides, as far as I know there is no historical example for a ship that was modernized and got a new sister ship after that.

Can tell you why: Because such modernizations were made years after the build of a ship. And is always limited.

So years later you would never build this old ship again, but build a completely new one, which has advantage even against the refitted, but yet older ship. And so is in game.

Well, if the devs gonna implement this possibility, fine for you. I showed you a workaround, even though I don't see much sense in it. No reason to get mad about it.

not exactly meaning, I want a totally modernized ship to be considered the same class. There are real world examples such as KGV ships having more anti air guns with the later ships. Small modifications can be considered the same class.

Building straight from the refit would be especially useful for when you build a ship and almost immediately unlock a tech it would be nice to put on it, like higher mark secondary guns and what not.

Plenty of precedent for later members of the same class getting some later updates right from the start.

Well. Who am I to deny your wishes to the devs... anyway, until they get fullfilled, I see two options:

Either you build the non-refitted designs and refit them instantly after their commission. Or you do what I said and name the "new" class like King George V (1943) or something like that. Would that be acceptable?

Also, just want to point out that your new copy class King George V and original King George V class ships can be given the same refits later on, turning them into a single class again.

Q: does the "avoid ships" actually work for anyone? ships seems to slam in to eachother mid sea during battle, or they come to a complete stop and you have to manually set their speed or manually give them a move order to break them in to funcion again.
I've tried to adjust the parameter in params but if set to near 0 or a million doesnt seem to affect it.

The problem with the current system is branching. Let's assume this KGV is built in batches of 2, with 8 ships total planned. After the first 2 are finished, they're upgraded with the most recent stuff that became available during their construction. Those upgrades should be incorporated into the next two right from the start. So from your suggestion, I'd copy the upgraded design and save it under a new name, creating a branch. KGV(II). I build those. Repeat previous steps for the next two and the next two, leaving me with 4 different classes of almost identical ships that have to be upgraded separately, and more importantly, I have to do the upgraded design 4 times. Every time I want to update something.

That's unneccessarily finicky and frustrating. I have to go into the designer and do all my changes 4 times over, every time.

This is a game. In cases like this user experience and fun should trump historicity every single time.

When you create your next refit of the original KGV, your updated copies (KGV 2, KGV 3, etc.) can also receive that same refit, and they will get re-classed into KGV (1941) - 4 or whatever that refit is, so all the ships are again the same class. There might be some cases where that won't work, if the KGV 2 and KGV 3 are too different from the original KGV-refits, but every time I've done it it's worked like that.

Of course it would be nice if we could straight up build the updated designs, but this workaround does work for the time being.

Thanks for the heads up, I never new that! And I have a lot of time on this game... So far, I just build the original design and then refit it to the latest version after it's been built, which feels supremely silly.

But - as you say. Allowing us to straight up build upgraded designs would solve the issue a lot more consistently. And since those designs can be copied and built straight up, I can't imagine it being much of a problem to implement.

Could that be "exit wounds" from an overpen?

If the damage mark on the opposite side is the exit wound then where's the entrance wound? There's none. Similar how enemy shot in my ship's starboard side but the gun was damaged/destroyed on portside.

И снова здравствуйте, адмиралы!

Вот еще одно обновление, предваряющее предстоящее крупное обновление. Пожалуйста, прочитайте, что в него входит.

Have you added a "beginner" difficulty level?? The game is already played with one hand with closed eyes! Who is your target audience? Definitely not those who play RTW

Uploaded optimized build including:
- Fine tunings in the damage model and new overpen mechanics. The overpenetration's damage will be even larger when the shell passes through the bow of the ship and less when it passes perpendicularly to the ship plus other improvements.
- Fixed error that prevented major nations from consistently fighting the minor nations' fleets which were dispatched to defend their provinces.
- Improved Minor Nations logic to scrap obsolete ships so their fleets are more competitive.
- Fixed map issue not allowing nations to pass from their own channels.
- Auto-Resolve improvement to be consistent with the actual value of ships in normal combat mode.
- Fixed some old issues of formations that made the division leader to lock its turning while auto-evasion was on and retreat was enabled.
- Fixed some minor issues in hulls and parts that were reported.
- Fixed some minor issues in the UI.
- Other minor fixes.
You need to restart Steam to get this update fast

I can't tell yet if it's consistent, but I'm fighting A-H right now in the 30's and their fleet seems to be almost entirely modern ships that are ugly as sin, but fairly competitive. A bit slow, but well armored and with decent armament and fire control. That's very encouraging!

Dear devs, @Nick Thomadis

I hope I am not bothering you with an irrelevant comment, but would you be so kind and do this little aesthetic fix, as I can not be the only one who finds it immersion breaking:

several tower structures have flags that fly through the ship structures. The most noticeably this happens on the "Targeting Control Tower #" on the british cruisers, the secondary towers of the Chinese "Command Battleship"and the  "Mini Rangefinder Tower #" on several Soviet ships, as well as other ships that use these parts.

Maybe you could just resize, relocate or remove the flags to fix the issue?

Hi Dev's

I have noticed a bug in the early game (1893) which is freezing (and I assume crashing the game) with a message "moving vessels" for anything up to 10-20 minutes (I don't know exact length as I decide to end the game and try to reload the same campaign) only to get the same result.

I am not using any mod's and it is the latest version. I have entered a 'Bug Report' in game.

Any thoughts?

We will check what can be done but it would help more if you have also some pictures to understand what may be the problem.

How exactly is this freeze happening? Can it be a eternal "ships..." loading state when trying to load a savegame?

It can be, you should check to update the game, it should be fixed.

Gonna wait for the @o Barãos Mod. But it would be interesting also to him, if that might be the solution. It is unsure, wether the mod or vanilla caused this problem. :) Thank you for this fix either way!

If you play a mod then the issue maybe something else. We fixed a bug of the latest patch that lasted about 30-40 minutes live before we offered a hotfix.

Thank you!
Now, I would love to provide you with some reference imagery, but apparently I "have used all of the attachment space you are allowed", and I couldn't figure out for my life how to relies that space.
