tward13 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) After reading the reviews and a bit of the forums I just purchased the game. PC version Now when i click on the desktop icon or select the game in my Steam library the screen goes black, then returns to the desktop. No game. What do I need to do to make the game run? I've tried rebooting, same thing. Edited March 7, 2015 by tward13
tward13 Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) I've tried the suggestions on other threads. I've updated drivers, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game following direction in that thread up top. I've tried it with firewall and real time scanning off, I've rebooted and tried. Same thing, blinks to black screen than back to Steam menu. Also tried the Alternative render, that blinks once, shows a game icon in the task bar, blinks again and goes back to Steam menu. If there's no explanation for this how do I get a refund? Edited March 7, 2015 by tward13
Nick Thomadis Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Tward13, please send us a crash report as advised here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/881-common-technical-problems-and-solutions/ with your forum name mentioned in comment. We need to see your system specs to understand what can be the problem.
Nick Thomadis Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 We have not yet received your crash report as advised in my post above Tom. Please do this so we can get a detailed report and we can find a way to fix this error you are getting: How to report a bug 1) When you meet an issue that you want to report, save and exit game. Re-start your game via Steam client and select Crash Report=>Play
tward13 Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 I sent the requested reports on March 7. Matter of fact I got a REPLY from Denis to that email asking me to verify integrity of game cache. I did that too. Then this morning I got a message form Husser1 asking me if I've tried Alternative render. I told him that yes I've tried that. I've tried everything suggested. It seems that all I'm getting are random requests to try the same things. So yes, I've sent reports.
sterner Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 We have not received any reports from you last 24 hours. Please resend crash report. It could help us to solve your problem.
Nick Thomadis Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I sent the requested reports on March 7. Matter of fact I got a REPLY from Denis to that email asking me to verify integrity of game cache. We have asked specifically to use the Crash report not to email us the reports, so that we receive additional info needed. Please re-send if you have already sent and somehow it was not sent to us.
tward13 Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 OK, please give me instructions on sending a crash report. Is it simply clicking on crash report and hitting play? Because I've done that before. If they go to you automatically then you should have them, multiple copies, from me. If there's something additional I need to do after hitting play, let me know.

tward13 Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 OK, I've just done this. When I select crash report and hit play a window opens briefly then closes.
Nick Thomadis Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 OK, I've just done this. When I select crash report and hit play a window opens briefly then closes. We still have not received anything. You need to write something on this window. just write the problem you have, and press "Send". PS. You say that you cannot even write on this window, it closes itself? That seems impossible as a problem.
tward13 Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Yes, I'm telling you that's exactly what's happening. The window opens only long enough to note that there might be boxes to type into, then closes before I can do anything.

Nick Thomadis Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Still we did not get any crash report from you tward13. Can you try this in the meantime? Since you have windows 8.1 the application may run better in window 7 compatibility mode. Go to the folder where the exe of UGG are located, usually in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ultimate General Gettysburg Right click on Ultimate General Gettysburg.exe =>Properties=>(1) Press on Compatibility mode tab => (2) Tick on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" => (3) Select "Windows 7" => Press OK (Sorry it is in Greek) Do the same for Ultimate General Multiplayer.exe.
tward13 Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Nick, I'll try compatibility later, but I have tried to send the Crash report. But when I "Run" crash report a window opens and immediately closes.
Nick Thomadis Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Please check that no other 3rd party app is interfering with Steam Tom also.
tward13 Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Finally bought the downloadable game. Works fine. I hate Steam and will not use it in the future.
