So I have been watching a number of professional YouTubers (Jackie Fish to name one), and they are attacking Boston in June of 1775. Essentially they bait the British to attack them, hide in the forest areas and play defense. This tactic appears to work fairly well, but is IMO, gamey as snot. Reminds me of Zerg rushes...

During the actual war, Washington took Fort Ticonderoga and with the guns he captured there, was able to put Boston under siege. Though the British could still supply by sea, the pressure of the siege was enough to eventually force the British to evacuate the city in March 1776 and moved their forces to Nova Scotia.

Personally, I would redesign this opening of the campaign.

First, any attack in the direction of Boston will be met with the British sallying out of Boston to meet them. But once the battle commences, they should refuse combat and return to the city, or set up in a defensive position to receive the Rebel attack instead of taking the offensive.

Second, the colonists must take and hold all cities and forts on the opening campaign map including Salem to simulate the Siege of Boston.

Third, the Colonists must position at least 3 batteries of artillery in Salem, including one of 6 pounders. The guns should be able to be captured attacking Forts Saratoga, Ticonderoga and maybe Frederick and Montgomery as well. This would be one 6 pounder per fort to enable you to make a battery.

Fourth, after maintaining their positions at Salem for one or so months, the British army will then abandon Boston and position themselves in Canada.

It might not be a slam dunk action packed game from the start, but it will far better reflect history and the harsh winter the Colonists had to preserve to eventually gain control of Boston.

Any thoughts?

After a bit of thought I think introducing some sort of siege mechanism would be the best and easiest way to go.

Not only happened at Boston but at Yorktown as well.
