Adonnus Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Firstly I think the setting and overall tone is a welcome change. After playing a quick 2h campaign here are my first thoughts. 1. The lack of voices for both units on the campaign map and in battle is conspicuous. In addition to this I think an Empire Total War style advisor on the campaign map telling you your first priorities is a good idea. 2. The musket volley casualties can be what seems to me nonsensical, with full volleys at full range doing more damage than something point blank in enfilade against a charging unit. Units should of course take more damage when closer and also when in enfilade, also from cannons. 3. There is no obvious way to use cannons (if I'm wrong please correct). One of my cannons got 200 kills in a battle, the other which was 20 yards or so away got only 8. It keeps firing but doesn't hit anything. 4. A way to sort out friendly fire so you can avoid it would be nice 5. I think that a story/narrative element rather than just actions would make the campaign much more interesting and immersive. There is already I guess with the video cutscenes, but more voice acting and associated events are needed IMO. 6. The narrative seems to be rather biased towards the patriots (of course there is only a patriot campaign right now). There were of course a lot of loyalists and it was as much a civil war as an interstate war. 7. Enemies shouldn't surrender so easily when I've just been executing whole companies for the past week, because there are no prisons available 😀 Like Sun Tzu said, leave a way for your enemy to escape or he'll fight to the end. Overall I think it's a great start, but this is the list of things I would most like to make it more enjoyable for me personally.
