teatrader Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I would not be surprised if a lot of players quit after the whole "exploiting" event a while back. It caused me to quit playing for a while too and I noticed that a lot more people quit. what happen exactly? Some Players with santi's let there ships be shot so others could gain points for free, until there was a rather unfortunate encounter with one of the developers in game, which then totally escalated. The people in that game did not belief a Developer was really in there game telling them to explain there actions, so they ignored it, after which some harsh words were spoken by the developers and this did not fall good with the accused players. Suddenly the whole team speak group felt accused and it escalated from there. Posts with chat logs of that game have been removed.

The game is in alpha and people are going to figure out ways to do things that aren't intended. It is the devs responsibility to "fix" these ways of doing things so they don't break the game, not get confrontational with the testers. I don't really know what happened but whatever it was sounded like it got out of control and it was a damn shame because the numbers of players actively online are so low that the game is almost not playable at times. Additionally I don't quite understand why the devs got so bent out of shape with people farming damage so they could unlock the ships they had progressed to earlier. I mean I understand that the devs wanted us to test the new ships, but I think alot of us actually tested without attempting to farm anyway and that only a few people took advantage of "power leveling" Also if testing specific content is so important all it takes is the devs requesting a focus test from the play base, asking people to try out the new ships and provide feedback. I know whenever I see a focus test come out, I always try to do with the devs ask and I think alot of the community would have felt the same way. Anyway, guess it is neither here nor there and whatever happened, happened. Right now I just want to see more players Online.
The Flying Dutchman Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Well, if you want more players, let pre-orders come back! I, for one, am willing to test thoroughly, but was too late in pre-ordering...
Kaaru62 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) you have to think about server load and potential numbers that might try to log in. if you keep selling keys to keep current population up, and then suddenly all the previous players that quit playing were to suddenly come back and try to log in, the population would go over what they had planned on and would cause problems, and cost money that wasn't in the budget. remember, it cost Game-Labs money each month to run the servers, and that cost varies with population. so we have this problem that keys have been issued based on the budget, it is not their fault most decided to not play/test. compounding the problem is the fact we paid to test and you cant just no to them because they didn't play/test for long periods. there is no good way to fix it. Windy Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Errr help test the smaller stuff? Help keep bug finding? Talk about small minded people. "I have the top ship so I'm bored and don't want to do what I signed up for when I get the game". Have you tried taking ALL the guns from your ships and speed testing ? What about changing the gun load out to different size guns ? Manual sailing, checking for any bugs asscoated with these changes ? Dueling 1v1 ? And just plane sailing, for the fun [pve, pve light] ?
Mass Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Im just not playing becuase i have every ship and i usually take 3 games a day, but im on the forums much more than i play the game Edited March 7, 2015 by Mass
StaleMemes Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) This game got a lot of focus on youtube from certain youtubers (BaronVonGamez, PhlyDaily, etc) who pitched it as the "latest new game to play play play!!!" not the "early alpha for those who want to make a great game in the future" This led to hundreds of people buying this game who hadn't seen more than 15 mins of youtube footage before hand and were unaware that this is a more in-depth game with a more prominent learning curve than a lot on the market. Now I think we are seeing those players dwindling away out as they grow bored with this game and go looking for the next one. Hey, I don't mind, more money to the devs, and I wasn't too impressed with the attitude of a lot of the new players I was seeing. The people who ARE looking for this kind of game will stay, I am not in the slightest concerned about this game losing steam and running out of players. @windy I remember taking out the trincomalee and using free cam to put myself in side the ship looking out the gunports, pretending I was a gunner xD Would be nice if the cannons jerked back into the ship when they fired, and then pushed back out again when ready to fire. StaleMemes Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Not to mention I know a lot of players are waiting for the open world. 1
Agin Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Many of us has missed the prepurchase window. I myself just recently found this great game. I hope gamelabs will reopen the prepurchase option before the steam early access.

Oh I think the game is going to stick around, it is just that it can be damn hard to get a good match right now. Just today, I decided to log in around 11am EST and play a few matches. Join PVP....zero players, join PVE...zero players...join Trafalgar....zero players. Ended up running two matches in PVE by myself solo. Not a whole lot of fun. Haven't logged back in all day. 1
Joe Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) I figure most players have their Santi and are waiting for open world now. Also I suspect that some aren't putting time into the game now because they know a wipe will occur before the next phase. I have the worst time window it's seems, Being in North Idaho I'm in Pacific time zone. At 11pm there were 10 players on....I'm half way to my Santi and its all PVE points. I'm fine with it though I'm still having fun and when the wipe happens I'll have more fun again. Players will come back when open world world is here and the wipe is over, they will invest more time in the game. Me I'm still chugging along to the Santi. Edited March 10, 2015 by Joe

Yeah I got my Santi mostly on PvE myself and have yet to play the Santi in PvP because every time I log on, I can't get a match. Guess I am going to add myself to the list of AWOL players unless something new happens because PvE just isn't engaging enough to keep my interest for long. Hopefully we will be seeing those new ships like the Ingermanland and Mercury added soon and we do have Open World testing right around the corner as well. Either should being life back into the game. Edited March 9, 2015 by Austrum
Naxos Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 The game saw a massive drop in population recently. For example on Sunday afternoons it dropped to 120 players, from 320 at best times. Same for non-core hours. Here it dropped from 180 to 75 nowadays. I wonder what caused the drop of so many core players? Maybe the people are bored and waiting for new content, as it was stated before. Personally I got never bored with the game, as every battle is a new experience- a new mixture of people, new ships, new tactics. However seeing the small population nowadays and missing many friends from the last months, can´t say I´m totally delighted to see this. No more Trafalgars, no more massive PVPs, no more crazy chat in the lobby. And a lot of waiting time to get a game going on. Okay “just Alpha” etc…but tough times at the moment. Good thing is, the population will explode as soon open world is coming and the game is released on Steam
Prater Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 They need to change it back to 2 people starts battle timer, 120 seconds for match start. There is more population than from the last drop outs, so that is a good thing. If the game was going to be a WoT game, then it would be an indication that new game types are needed, which would be true. But this isn't a WoT style game, but an Open World MMO. 1
Steelfury Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 In all honesty I got rather bored with playing, I've played over 200 hours and unlocked the Santi quite a while back, but I don't feel motivated to play the same game without some sort of progress/'reward' for playing - once new content is released/open world then I'll be back again, but until then I'm lurking on the forums
Juan Itzagena Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 But, but Steelfury, you are testing not playing . Seriously though, I still enjoy the game after 150 hours played and have my Santi unlocked (that thing is a beast but sails like a bathtub) and have only had a couple of even matchups in it. I miss being able to jump into a 20+ player game at almost anytime of the day. Looking forward to the return of those AWOL players.
Prater Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Personally, I like the small matches. I was starting to get tired of all the huge matches. 1
ParaBellum Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I lost a bit of interest after many hours. Team Deathmatch with ships just doesn't hold my attention forever. Will certainly be back once we get access to the open world client. 1
-KM- Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Waiting for new content I think. Also I think the drop in players couse a drop in players. What I mean by that is that once you got all the ships the main reason to play seatrials are the big PVP battles, at least for me personally. They are fun and challanging especially if you got a few of your teammates on teamspeak. However, there is no reason to take a tank to a swordfight ( a Victory or santi to fight a few trincs ) Going back to a conti can be fun once in a while but in all honesty once you got all the ships the big fun is when you get some 10+ people in each team for big fights. Playing 3v3 in small ships can be fun, but not fun enough to take game after game playing a trinc you have played hundreds of times before versus 3 other trincs and a cerb. So I only logg at peak hours when I think there will be possible to get a trafalgar going while waiting for new content. I would logg more often thought if there were more players and possibilities to get big batlles going.
Jack_the_Stripper Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 They should up the time in the timer to 10 min or in one of the rooms far to many 4vs4 battles it's no fun
Aussie_Fox Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 They should up the time in the timer to 10 min or in one of the rooms far to many 4vs4 battles it's no fun ha, i'd love to get a 4v4 battle. best i've seen in the last few days has been 2v3. i was on the 2 side of that and my team mate had continual connection issues, so it inevitably became a 1v3. also late last night i jumped on thinking i could get a game in, oh how wrong i was. less than 10 people online, compared to the 50 odd that are usually online at the same time. lets just hope damage model 4.0 is finished testing soon and released immediately to bring some players back. even if it's a small burst of players until open world arrives.
Kao1808 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 If you are in Adelaide and would like to get some bigger battles I suggest trying to get up at 6 or 7 am . That is evening here in Europe and you should be able to get in a couple of 5 vs 5 and up battles. I don't get to play that often but was in 9 vs 9 earlier this week.
admin Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 The sea trials was a test. It delivered the results and provided extremely valuable data and feedback. We are winding it down and we no plans to try to increase population or provide additional content to combat testing. Private rooms for organized clan combat will be added and that's it. Next test will be in the open world Those tests will be short term and will not run continuously. 12
