Bolitho Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Most days are very quiet now. 6 servers and 12 players today and no chat. It does liven up a bit in the evening, but still very quiet.
Aragorn Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 real life has been getting in the way lately so i havent been able to get onto Naval Action..hopefully tonight ill be able to get on! : P
PIerrick de Badas Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 i play few today taking pleasure to discover new head but it's hard to make a fight atm and somenew stuff is necessary
Bolitho Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Not to mention I know a lot of players are waiting for the open world. . . Bound to happen. Edited March 13, 2015 by Bolitho
Charles IV Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) It is sad to hear that players who can play do not play and players who want to play can't. Edited March 13, 2015 by Charles IV
ObiQuiet Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Private rooms for organized clan combat will be added and that's it. This sounds like a good thing! 1
GrapeShot Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Aren't a number of the old regulars missing because they are now testing the Open World?
Brigand Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 All the moderators have access; there are currently 26 moderators. So they may be part of the drop, but they can hardly account for the total I think. ~Brigand
Leviathan Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Aren't a number of the old regulars missing because they are now testing the Open World? There is only a handful in open world testing so that barely affected the alpha population.
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 This is a "normal" cycle. There isn't a ton of content, and the content currently available is for data gathering as Admin has mentioned, it's not supposed to survive on its own as a standalone game. Don't be too concerned with the numbers, the next time there's a serious content release, a new ship, Open World, etc. you'll see a huge resurgence in players. Right now, we're testing, not playing. 2
Aussie_Fox Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 If you are in Adelaide and would like to get some bigger battles I suggest trying to get up at 6 or 7 am . That is evening here in Europe and you should be able to get in a couple of 5 vs 5 and up battles. I don't get to play that often but was in 9 vs 9 earlier this week. so the general time most people go to work........ I've even reinstalled WOT - tragic really oh god why? better off playing Warthunder. or for a naval aspect apply to the CBT of World of Warships. I myself will be avoiding Wargaming like the plague they are.
Kao1808 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 so the general time most people go to work........ If you live in Australia and go to work in Europe maybe... Guess it depends what job you have. Otherwise try the weekend. Anyway you can't have it all in Australia, you already got the weather... This is a "normal" cycle. Open World should increase the number of players but only in testing open world/travel I assume. I doubt they will increase soon in sea trials again. Which is fine by me as for now we are only testing.
si_the_sorcerer Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 i can see things quickly pick up when they patch the new damage mod in as players will want to know what they have to do to good damage damage but like what the others are saying most are waiting for the open world to come out
steel_rain3 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I cant wait to see open world or any new updates...Naval Action so far is fantastic and will be a great game. Well done Devs
Aussie_Fox Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 If you live in Australia and go to work in Europe maybe... wait are you saying people in Australia don't go to work at 6-7am?
Bart Smith Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 From my own experience i know that many of future players of Naval Action still waiting for more content or full version of game. Recently so many games being relased so early some of them with many bugs or simply not finished. Look for example for game called Ravens Cry - on screenshoots looks amazing but never heard positive opinon about it. No suprise game was made in 11 months! Currently so many games are made this way...just rush to finish - sell it, grab money and forgot about it. Hope we get here slow but steady progress in developing and adding new content. Age of sail related game have to be more complex than raw ship combat. Personally i got few friends who said to me: ill will buy it when game will be in final version. Plus actually now we got alpha tests - and most of players unlocked last ship and waiting for more. No reason to panic we will get new players in later stages. Doubt that game will be so popular like World of Tanks, War Thunder or World of Warships but hope for steady and nice playerbase like PotBS got in first year after relase... 1
Aussie_Fox Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 No reason to panic we will get new players in later stages. no one is 'panicking', but when the playerbase drops by over 90% maybe something should be done to encourage players to continue to test. even if it was something simple like organised trafalgar games at certain times of the day, every 8 hours maybe? that way people from all around the world know they have a chance at some big battles, and people will be online. another option would be to shut down testing for a few weeks so the devs can concentrate on progressing the game without having to deal with the same constant bug reports and questions from the newer players(myself included). this is the first alpha test i've been involved with that has 24/7 access. and even some CBT's have limited access to allow developers to concentrate and not be overwhelmed. i like that the game is open 24/7 but it's kinda pointless when the game is currently empty 75% of the day and getting worse until the new damage model is released, new ships or open world to lure players back. just my two cents, means nothing. carry on carrying on.
Kao1808 Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 wait are you saying people in Australia don't go to work at 6-7am? I was saying I don't think most people go to work at 6-7 am, probably a bit later. At least here, maybe in Australia it is different..
Aussie_Fox Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 I was saying I don't think most people go to work at 6-7 am, probably a bit later. At least here, maybe in Australia it is different.. all tradies generally start work at 7am or earlier(it's only earlier if it's a large job site and they have permission from the council to start making noise before 7am.) . 'office workers' start at 9am. i myself would have to leave for work before 5am to arrive in the city ready for work by 7am.

Hey Fox.. We have already moved the open world instances to a new damage model and new infrastructure. Many things are being changed and there is no point to bring back players to the old systems. They will just experience the same thing again. Once battles are connected and basic economy is implemented and given out to the public online will go back up and will be even higher. 2

When the open world build opens up for testing, can we expect damage 4.0 in it? I was under the assumption that the only thing we will initially test is sailing, time compression, and distances.

I was under the assumption that the only thing we will initially test is sailing, time compression, and distances. we decided to delay OW for exactly this reason after initial tests with the internal testing team. damage model and some basic economy features will be connected to the OW. 3
Bixol Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 So dmg 4.0 will come before OW? And OW will come with tweaked 4.0 + basic economy? I need to play a bit again, didn't play that much since update introducimg privateer and cerberus (still have to get last few thousands dmg on cerberus...) 1
