Yeah, but how did you manage to go back to Opt4?

NAR BETA 3.0.3 "Major Powers update" for UAD 1.6.0.6 opt x4

fixed an issue with missing bursting charges on torpedo boats.

For all the players that are having issues with Melon Loader not working with UAD Optx5 follow this guide to revert to a previous version.

And please block the steam updates!!!!!!:

I don't know when I am going to update the mod again, so to avoid any issues, block the auto updates from steam:

  • Set game to update when start game. Do this in game setting(properties)-> update.
  • Don't start game by steam or steam shortcut. Make a shortcut on desktop from the main game .exe  in this location: "....\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts\Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts.exe"
  • Start a game from this shortcut. Game will run without update.

Can anyone help I've followed all the steps needed to download the mod correctly however when I boot up the game I don't have the thing where it shows that I'm playing the mod and I don't get access to the new countries I've already tried uninstalling and re installing the game deleting the mods and re adding them etc if there's like a detailed step by step thing someone can send or tell me that would be nice.

Are you seeing the NAR files inside the Mods folder in this location?

C:\....\Steam\steamapps\common\Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts

Did you install ML and downloaded Taf DLL?

I think something is broken, I'm following this but still getting errors. I've got NAR/TaF from page 1. Installed as normal, still getting errors - even with this new fix. I think it might be the depot, I'm not certain though.image.thumb.png.bc20742229d2cbb7921d236189bd6a29.png

Yes I did all of that and I followed the instructions for ML and Taf DLL I put them where they were supposed to but the MelonLoader works just fine and boots up however NAR just doesn't seem to pop up like it's supposed to in the news part no matter how many times I remove and put it back plus uninstalling the game and re installing

Just gonna say this here, as an update to previous also said by @o Barão.

Per as of now, you can not use TaF on latest Opt5 UAD. Opt4 works fine.
Also, using ML 0.6.5 will throw an error if using TaF/mods or not. Please reinstall ML 0.6.4

See here how to downgrade UAD to previous version

I want to follow this up with some direct instructions with all steps in one page, rather than 3, for people; as I have finally managed to get it to work, as I really struggled.

I had to reinstall UAD but you may not, I have fast internet so I wasn't too bothered and it meant I had a blank canvas to work with.

Step 1:

  • Use "WIN+R" to open the Run menu and then enter steam://open/console"
  • In the steam console paste "download_depot 1069660 1069661 200633275963178874" (This is the most recent working version, you may go further back on https://steamdb.info/depot/1069661/manifests/  - however the one I've posted absolutely has worked for me, and was the one recommended by MDHansen)
  • Once the item has finished downloading, as in the screenshot below, copy the items from the folder the download has gone to, into your UAD folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts)
  • Make sure you turn on "Only update this game when I launch it"

image.thumb.png.c76e21b3ca775aba2b3e80ca94bfae4b.png

Step 2: Run MelonLoader. Select Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts.exe as normal, remove "Latest" and switch to v0.6.4, then run install/re-install.

Step 3: Install NAR and TaF as you would normally.

Step 4: Create a desktop shortcut of the exe, the path should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts\Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts.exe" and run the game as you normally would with NAR.

Big thanks to o Barão/The Baron, NathanKell and MDHansen for all their hard work - all of these steps are theirs; I have just compiled them into 1 post.

I have these errors too, but they don't crash the game. I don't even see them unless I look at the logs.

Maybe it's because I didn't update tweaksaandfixes.dll (still using 14.09.24 version) and MelonLoader(still 0.6.4)

Did you install with MelonLoader0.6.4? And the shortcut to the .exe needs to be on your desktop as well! Happy to help if you message me on discord, my username is its_baxy

Is one modifier responsible how much damage the ship will take when gets hit by a shell or a torpedo.

Sorry for the delay. From a simulationist perspective, what is it representing?

Is how much damage a ship takes not already represented by defeating protection (armour, torpedo defence), and then behind armour effect (compartmentalization)?

I’m just trying to work out what the system is standing in for, which would be the durability of a ship based on form, since the value in the game is tied to the hull itself, no?

I had this same issue, downgrading MelonLoader from 0.6.5 to 0.6.4 fixed it.

In NAR, I followed that logic. The bigger the ship class, more compartments, bulkheads, etc. will exist to help mitigate the shell explosions effects.

But that is only one factor.

To make it short as possible how damage works, ingame:

  • Resistance/endurance modifier will have an impact in both the gun damage and torpedo damage.
  • Torpedo damage modifier (you can see this on components or per ship class in the shipTypes file/hidden from the player)
  • Gun damage modifier (you can see this on components or per ship class in the shipTypes file/hidden from the player)
  • HE shell damage modifier
  • Shell type damage modifier
  • Shell weight damage modifier
  • Partial pens damage modifier
  • Overpenetration damage modifier.
  • Torpedo size damage modifier.

Can't follow straight up... the problem with Melon Loader solved?

What I understand is that should now be possible using ML 6.4 with UAD optx5 if using the latest Taf DLL.

Yes, as discussed earlier in this thread, MelonLoader 0.6.5 is incompatible with UAD. You need 0.6.4. I have updated the install instructions in the first post in the TAF thread to describe this and link to 0.6.4.

I have a problem with opening UAD right now. It worked a few hours ago. But as soon as I turned on my PC, it showed me this error in ML which crashes the game upon startup. I have the up-to-date NAR Mod files, TAF, and the 0.6.4 ML. The game didn't open Steam when I launched it so it wasn't updating. I have seen another guy that got the same "S3" code error.

EDIT: I have just discovered a solution to this problem. You just need to go to Steam directly and verify the integrity of the files. Once done, it fixes it.

Thank you for this mod! Have tried a few nations now and am totally loving it.

I do have one thing I encountered but I'm not sure if it's as-designed or not:
When playing with the minor nations I found that, in the end, your available crew is the limiting factor.
I tried a few games now and especially with the Dutch when you focus on GPD choices, after a while you're obscenely rich, but you just can't spend it on ships as the max crew you get per turn is a measily 30-ish (with max funding). I could make a fleet out of gold, but have noone to crew them.

While I love me a david vs goliath challenge, the fact that there is no way to increase this (as it's based on the pop size of your home region), I found the lack of crew just ends the game for me the longer the campaign goes on (I usually start in 1890).

Would it be possible for colonies to also factor in when it comes to crew recruitment? Say, make 10% of the colony pop or something available for recruiting? (no idea if that is actually possible within the game logic) For at this point there is no way to grow in a meaningful way to actually take on the goliaths on the map.

Balance wise for the vanilla nations I don't think it matters, I've never seen them run out of manpower and a slight increase from colonial holdings wouldn't matter. While for the minor nations it actually gives you a goal to work towards. More colonies = more crew= more ships = more colonies etc.

Historically speaking, colonial powers like the British, French, Spanish and Dutch would actively recruit from their colonies to fill in the lower ranks of armies and navies. (IIRC the British even had BBs crewed and funded by her colonies) So it's not like it's historically incorrect.

At this point I "fixed" it in my own game by turning one colony province into a home state to raise my recruitment, but would be awesome if there were a way to include it in this mod.
