ObiQuiet Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 I'm always thinking of buying cool looking models but everytime I stop and realize that I could just play with the exact same model in a videogame. It fires, takes damage, and sinks too. Don't know if these guys are still active, but I hope so: The North Texas Battle Group builds, sails, and fights 1/144-scale radio-controlled WWII-era model warships in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. CO2-powered cannon are used to fire ball bearings into balsa-wood hulls. Ships are damaged - even sunk! Then they are recovered, patched, and sent back into battle! https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=north+texas+battle+group https://ntxbg.org/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php
ObiQuiet Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) ... yeah, i think im just gonna play NA, bit more affordable True. (Sorry about the sticker shock; wasn't nice. I added a warning later) On plus side, no one will complain if people put whatever damn name they want on the model's stern and if they use whatever damn paint color they want, and can even put a damn fancy-pants pirate on board with a huge rear spoiler and double exhausts to soup 'er up like real pirates did in real life. Well, on second thought, it would be a double-damn shame messing up an irreplaceable work of research and craftsmanship. Never mind. Edited February 22, 2015 by Lt. Obiquiet
DeRuyter Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Actually those prices are quite reasonable for museum quality ship models, the sailing ships anyway. Custom made museum quality models can run easily over $10k.
