Game stalls at 'update ships' (1.09.0 Beta Repair Pack 2)

After about 10+ years in-game as Japan I run into the issue of the game getting stuck on the 'update ships' portion of an end turn. It doesn't matter how many times i quit to main menu and reload, it happens every time  I end my turn. Two games in a row have come to be ruined by this bug.

I see as the game goes on the time between months increases.

Did your game stick after a country was 'eliminated'?

The slowdowns seem to have become much worse with the increase in world map and number of countries.

That did not seem to affect it

I haven't played it for several beta patches. I am hoping to see more stability and a few more changes before plunging back in.
