LAVA Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 So after over 2 years I return to play a Legendary Confederate Campaign and go from the Potomac Fort to Washington fighting 38 battles along the way for the win! In total the Union losses 1,024,642 killed and 24,763 captured to the Rebs 291,613 casualties. Hope you enjoy the series. LAVA Posted July 12, 2022 Author Posted July 12, 2022 I won't be posting all my videos here (unless folks really want to see them). They will be coming out, hopefully at least one per day as the campaign is complete. Of course, you can't start a legendary Confederate campaign without playing the infamous The Potomac Fort: 1
pandakraut Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Cool to see you back and getting the full campaign in the bag this time around as well! Looking forward to watching. 1
LAVA Posted July 13, 2022 Author Posted July 13, 2022 Cheers, Panda! I have played lots of ACW games, and I must say this is by far the best. So in one way, its kinda sad... 😢 😁
LAVA Posted July 13, 2022 Author Posted July 13, 2022 BTW, it appears it really isn't apparent in my campaign, but I am using my reputation to buy men, so the guns and training levels of my troops is especially poor at the beginning of the campaign as I am pretty much forced to buy weapons and use recruits. They will slowly start improving as time goes by. So does my generalship... which isn't the greatest at the start of the campaign.
LAVA Posted July 13, 2022 Author Posted July 13, 2022 The early war is quite difficult for me but following Shiloh our fortunes slowly begin to change with excellent victories at 1st Winchester, Cross Keys and Port Republic. Then comes the battle of Gaines' Mill. With only 18 brigades in play, we surround the Yankee army and wipe them out with almost a 7 to 1 K/D ratio including 4 surrenders. My finest battle in the campaign so far.
KeithD Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 (edited) CSA Shiloh is now streets better than vanilla, it's even worth playing day 2 for the nice surprise 👏 Edited July 14, 2022 by KeithD

I am building an army to take me to Washington. Many times the outcomes of my battles are not spectacular. It is difficult to see up to this point where I am headed. Perhaps this video will offer an explanation:
LAVA Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 The battle that shocked the Nation. 67,137 men lie dead on the battlefield. Eight brigades totally 4,113 men are captured. K/D ration is 3 to 1. I love this battle.

Perhaps this video will offer an explanation: Hi Lava Yes I've used the rush through the centre method in the past to win on day 1, but I prefer to challenge myself to go for historical objectives and strategies I don't want to drop any spoilers, but if you do find yourself on day 2, 28.1 fixes a major annoyance with the vanilla game Nice one Panda

Doing this required resolving additional technical issues and moves the battles away from the historical starting states on later days, so I can understand why the base game doesn't do this. LAVA Posted July 18, 2022 Author Posted July 18, 2022 I surround and annihilate the Yanks on the first day at Gettysburg. I was unsure if I should continue the battle to its ultimate conclusion and wipe out the Yankees. I decided on a more conservative approach, fighting the Yanks on Little Round Top and then taking Cemetery Hill to conserve my army. K/D was 3.8 to 1.
LAVA Posted July 18, 2022 Author Posted July 18, 2022 The Siege of Jackson is always a tough battle on Legendary. I outflank the Yankees and destroy his army with a 6 to 1 K/D ratio.
