World Domination suggestions. Share your ideas.

Hello, wanted to share the open world domination idea that could be used in Naval Action, work in progress. Many interesting suggestions can be implemented into this.

Here is a Sneak Peek of the world domination prototype that I am working on. Each region in the open world could have strategic positions and bonuses. Ex. resources, travel speed, defenses ,spawn points etc.. World should be covered with the hexagon grid. If a nation captures fort+cannon towers all hexagons will fill with nation's color and represent captured/controlled region. Other nations would need to fight in order to take the region from the hostile nation, boost defense and resource support for it's own nation. World map timer must be in place. Note! This is just a raw idea.

World domination timer

This timer will start after world map is reset every 8 weeks. Timer re-spawns all nations back to it's original controlled regions and war begins. Nations start sending convoys (war/trade) to all regions around the world and start capturing them. Nation who gets the most control is the winner before timer runs out. The winner will have bonuses and awards, ships etc.

Transfer some captured regions into second round? Possible.

Trade routes to support regions.

This will be a main task for traders. Move as much supplies as you can to a vulnerable region that needs help. Sell it at the local store and make profits. Prepare to face pirates or hostile ships on your way to destination. Pay warship convoy to protect you or sail at your own risk.

--------Reserved for future ideas---------

How would you like to see nations fight and gain wold control? Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm not totally sure Wind that this is the best mechanic for this game since it is trying to be somewhat realistic and I'm talking here about the overall idea.

My biggest problem with it is the bonuses. Your just introducing magic back into the game. Reasons to take a port should be more about strategy than buffs.

I also have a problem with spawn points. Spawn points like you suggest takes away from the cost of fleet repositioning and I'm specifically am talking of the cost of time which is detrimental to a realistic age of sail game.

Also, advantages are to unrealistic. Advantages need to be built through skill, strategy, economy, so that everyone is on an even playing field. There is room I believe for variety within the game that will at times give an advantage to one team or another but it should not be done through spawn point advantages and who owns the port that boosts ship speeds.

I do like the idea of land based world domination and not just ports. By this I mean world domination that spreads through a logical and realistic flow. For this, I like how WoT controls the global map in that game in that there are "landings" and all attempts to spread into the map requires that you begin at these points. To apply an idea like this to NA's open world then only certain ports could be attacked initially (these ports could change from map to map or it could be less mechanical, allowing the players to choose where they will land but limit each nation to a fixed amount of landings.). Upon winning a "port of landing" then neighboring ports will unlock and be available for capture leading to a conquering of the area in a logical flow.

The positives of this would be that nations could pull their resources together to defend against the landing or allow them to draw away resources from the landing by counter attack landing in another part of the map. I would foresee more back and forth fighting than arbitrary attacks on ports in far corners of the map and night "flipping".

Agree with my fellows.

Realism and strategy above all.

I do not like the timer idea.

It works with ww2 online cause it's a game only about war.

But it can not work for a world with dynamic economy, productions, alliances, geopoitics and so on.

Setting up alliances, economic network consumes time. I cant imagine after all this hard work, everything to be reset.

If you would ask me i would say that the world should be entirely persistant and there should be no wipes or what so ever and let the economy and war be based on player action, something like how elite:dangerous is doing things.
