Mass Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 How many players will purchase and play Naval Action sice there are so much talk about different severs and how many per server? One mega server would make it cooler becuase it isnt cool to play on a server where only youre on and by that im mean no sails spotted on horizon .. I have a feeling when NA comes to steam its going to explode but im still asking how many do you guys think?

If player base grow they will probably look into if it is possible to keep it one server or if the will have to shard it. I would guess that decition will also come down to what infrastructure they will have access to and be able to maintain. A single server requier a lot more infrastructure I think....

I have played games with one world run off one server farm and roughly 40,000 people playing at one time. Sometime there were 2000-3000 players fighting in one small area of the map, these were the only times I saw problems with game performance so all in all I don't think it would be look upon as high expectations for this game to be one open world where all players are in the one sandbox. As you say this does encur infrastructure costs but I would think if you are developing an MMO with an open world concept then you have already accepted a huge infrastructure change/upgrade.
