Campaign Questions

So, What am I supposed to be doing on the Campaign map?

Should I have the majority of my fleet at sea?

Should I be trying to blockade enemy ports? (is that possible)

I see the route designations for the enemy task forces, should I be sending my own to the same locations to intercept? 

Is there any point to creating convoy raiding type ships or TFs and how would you ensure these are raiding convoys vs getting drawn into fleet battles? 

Thanks, I've been really enjoying the game, probably since day one and since the campaign option has been available I have, in light of my questions above, just focused on destroying as much of the enemy fleet as possible.
