How can i fire the torpedos ?

how do I fire the torpedoes? My torpedo launchers do nothing. 

I would be very grateful for any help or advice

You must be in the correct range for them to launch, and have the right angles on the enemy. If these conditions are met, they will launch, unless you have them turned off.
