Speglord Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 I don't think Nick has ever said anything on the subject, but will there ever be some sort of option for making custom, or using historical, camouflages for your ships? Seeing every ship with the same medium metallic gray look gets kind of tiresome. You could even just do a handful of historical camouflages per country (one or two of the WWII American measures, the white+gold of pre-WWI USN, black+white of the Imperial Russian Navy, etc.) and then let users create new ones, or recreate historical ones, on the Steam workshop. 1
Captain Basilone Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 I'd go for it. They could also be used to minorly affect accuracy. (ie dazzle pattern camouflage decreases enemy torpedo accuracy but increases enemy gun accuracy.)
HistoricalAccuracyMan Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 (edited) I'd like to see some different camo/liveries for my ships. The main ones I'd like to see are some of the USN WWII camos, like the ones that made ships the same dark blue from bow to stern, or the camo that was various shades of blue, white and gray along with some of the Royal Navy camos (particularly the schemes used on HMS Nelson and Rodney). I'd also enjoy the gold/white scheme of the early USN, but mainly because that paint scheme looks sharp as hell on those old boats. I wouldn't want to see camos as a paid DLC necessarily, but I think if they aren't included in the main game then the Steam Workshop would be a viable option. CapnAvont1015 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 I talked about this a long time ago but I'm perfectly content with camos being purely cosmetic and as I said camos properly won't come for a long time at least after we get all the important stuff out of the way. 5 hours ago, Speglord said: Seeing every ship with the same medium metallic gray look gets kind of tiresome Your right it is boring as hell looking at the same gray every. single. time. 5 hours ago, Speglord said: You could even just do a handful of historical camouflages per country (one or two of the WWII American measures, the white+gold of pre-WWI USN, black+white of the Imperial Russian Navy, etc.) and then let users create new ones, or recreate historical ones, on the Steam workshop. This is the best way to do camos. Let the community make the camos so the Devs don't have to waste time doing it and it allows the community to express it's creativity and in turn (hopefully) let the Devs allow us to create our own custom hulls, turrets and superstructures. 1
DougToss Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 For some reason I'm finding it hard to find reference materials on the schemes of some navies - particularly the Regia Marina. Does anyone know where to look? I know they painted the bows in diagonal stripes of red and white but I'm finding it difficult to find more than that.
Commander Reed Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Sprocket (Tank Designer Game) has liveries, this game should too. For example, I want a stealth ship, time to put the camoflauge that the RMS Olympic had on her voyages.
