State of the game and mortar brig?

The game seems at an all time low with player numbers. Is it time to queue the "ded gaem" memes yet? Kinda seems the developers lost interest in updating/improving the game a long time ago too. They can't even be bothered anymore to add more overpriced DLC ships to finally break the 500$ total for the full game content. Still waiting for that upgunned combat indiaman... essay writer

Also what's the deal with the mortar brig? Can you still used it against heavy 1-2 rates somewhat effectively? I really enjoyed that indirect fire artillery gameplay to change up things a bit from time to time but then they hello kittyed with ship speeds and damage model... How good is the mortar brig currently?
