Thanks to Stormnet asking how the development goes, in this thread :

The campaign is still in progress and we will try to show a first glimpse as soon as possible.

In parallel, we add new mechanics, new ships, features that you all might want to play with, until we offer the campaign.

Therefore, we will let you know what will be the content of the next patch. It might be not the Core but another major update with all the latest stable features available for you.

First thanks for the answer.

One of the things we stood out to me, is that the next patch, which probably won't contain the campaign, is the mention of new mechanics.

So I wonder what do you think could this mean?

To save designs would be a feature not a mechanic I think

Could he perhaps refer to crew? Right now there is no real crew mechanic.

That at least would be one new mechanic.

Any ideas for others (keep in mind that we are talking mechanics without the campaign)?

Maybe, alternate firing modes and range engagements. Maybe the ability to plot basic co-ordinates or paths for the AI to follow. Just a few i can mention of the top of my head.

I don't know if this would be considered a "mechanic" per se, but some ships had separate directors for their port and starboard secondary mounts, so maybe once technology advances enough in game, maybe it would give way to a "split fire" mechanic for the secondary guns. I also feel like torpedo launchers that aren't centerline mounted would be able to do this as well. So maybe a better way to sum this up is a "multiple targets" mechanic for secondary guns and torps

I would consider it a mechanic and do hope it will come.

Right now I fell that certain concept won't work in game, because the game says so.

Main guns on the side could become a option, if both side can fire at different targets.

@Cpt.Hissy not a mechanic.

Could be a crew system, as in the campaign I suspect the overall quality of the crew could make the difference between a win or loss. Same goes for how much crew you lose during the coarse of a battle, as when ships take damage in certain areas they could lose crew members. Plus it would be a factor in the overall cost of operating your navy. Given the current pace of development i don't think it will be anything more than like a basic maintenance cost in the campaign or something.

Outside crew, I think the ship editor needs quite a few tweaks here and there. That being said I wonder what new ship hulls are being designed.

I do like people were awaiting for a response like this from the devs (otherwise they wouldn't begin to speculate and comment that response everywhere).

One little thing that does worry me a little is "The campaign is still in progress and we will try to show a first glimpse as soon as possible."

I'm wondering if they either just want to show a polished and more finished version of the campaign, they dont feel like showing it right now, or if it isn't on a presentable state despite months of work meaning that we might as well just wait even more. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I'm also afraid that the campaign is rather far away from us.

After all; I though we were suppose to get the campaign with the next patch. Now it sounds as if there will be a patch before that.

HELLO EVERYONE! I've returned from my time in the phantom zone ,did I miss anything?

Not much really. No updates or detailed news about future patches.

Only some spikes of activity of threads in the forum.

I made a small 15 minute post that earned 15 likes, while one I took 4 hours to make one only got 1, because... reasons.

Someone suggested a small 1v1 "make a ship and fight" multiplayer mode, got 2 replies, went silent for a few weeks, then it blew up in popularity and it got to the point people were suggesting a fullblown multiplayer campaign like Hearts of Iron 4, because... reasons.

And as you can see above (and on the UAD discord), the devs response to put everybody speculating about the future updates, because...

just kidding.

Besides that... business as usual here.

Ah good and also shame not too much is going on. Glad I didn't miss that much though.
