flanking not working

I discovered that during a battle, I was shooting at an enemy regiment, for 3 different directions, front, side, and other side towards the rear, but not a single one of mine got a "flanking hit" on that regiment.

I first thought that was a single instance with that single battle, but it just kept happening at later battles as well. It might have happened before, but that was the battle i discovered it.

Has anyone else seen/experienced this? Is it supposed to be this way, and there is something I haven't understood?

Do you mean that the “FLANKED!” or “REAR FLANKED!” notices aren’t popping up, or the enemy regiment didn’t seems to take a morale hit? If it’s the former, those notices only appear on your own brigades(but if the latter, I don’t have any help)
