Hull Dimensions vs Tonnage

I’ve noticed some of the Hull dimensions in-game don’t seem to match up to the tonnage you’d expect for their size and seem inconsistent.

 

Here are in-game examples of four of the largest hulls for reference when maxed out (dimensions are length x width x draft):

 

Japan Super Battleship 125,000 t 1192' 5" x 164' 5" x 68' 1"

 

Germany Super Battleship II 130,000 t 1155' 3" x 163' 7" x 61'

 

France Super Battleship II 95,000 t 1131' 4" x 153' 1" x 82' 2"

 

United States Super Battleship 109,000 t 1063' 3" x 137' 10" x 77'

 

First of all the main thing that stands out is that the hull drafts are huge. For instance the 82 ft draft of the French hull seems excessive and is what might be expected for hull design typically 1900-2100 ft long and mounting ~ 850mm - 1000mm (~ 33.5” - 39.4”) guns! Even a 60 ft draft is massive (the 131,000 t H-44 design was 41.67ft) and is what might be expected for a hull 1400-1600 ft long. For the hulls listed above a draft of 40-45 ft seems more reasonable.

 

Using SpringSharp and assuming a battleship hull block coefficient of 0.65 (somewhat conservative as I believe many battleship designs had block coefficients exceeding this, the Tillman IV-2 design had a block coefficient of >0.8 for example) I put in the hull dimensions stated above and here is what I got for the tonnage:

 

Japan Super Battleship 248,000 t

 

Germany Super Battleship II 214,000 t

 

France Super Battleship II 264,000 t (!)

 

United States Super Battleship 209,500 t

Damm lol, almost 300k tonne ships. We would need quintuple turrets for those with guns between 22 and 26inches

Hopefully when we get the beam and draft sliders we should be able to make them more sensible, the ships always did seem a bit high too me, reminds me of miss hitachi one of my own creations.

1- Decrease the size of current hulls.

2- Add a ultra battleship hull with Gustav/Dora like cannon so I can satisfy my inner superdreadnought wehraboo instinct. I dont give a crap about realism, gimme a 250,000 ton battleship hull, NOW!

Building big in a game aint a joke, its a lifestyle.

I know the warcrimes that the Wehrmacht either commited or helped others to commit. Executions, forced labor, fighting (while literally drugged) for psychotic arian supremacists that wanted (and tried) to kill off most/all non-arian ethnicities and literally rule the world, besides a massive list of others that led to the horrendous deaths of milions. I do not support them in any way what they did and why, and I think someone that does so should seriously get help imediatly.

 

A wehraboo isn't just a ideological neo-nazi that (god help them) SOMEHOW believes nazis were the good guys. It can be also someone who overrates the WW2 german military, like its military victories and hardware and downplays their losses, aka, someone who says "5 Shermans per Tiger" (despite the Tiger being a overengineered mecanical mess and its flat front armor being rendered obsolete by high speed 3 inch guns) or "Germany could have won WW2" (despite that a disfunctional state like that would eventually colapse on itself). Someone called me that a few months ago when I said (stupidly) most people know HMS Hood as "The ship Bismark blew up".

 

I said "werhaboo" jokingly as I usually build german ships in-game and the ships I have been lately building are 1940's german 130k ton ships and that I wanted to go even bigger and build 210k ton ships.

 

I removed the W word from my first post if you care so much about it. Making such a fuss for one meme-based word...

Since you clearly didn't read properly my response post above, I'm going to highlight the important parts in this one, like people would do to a toddler.

 

I never called myself a nazi, for god's sake. I jokinly (not even seriously) called myself a werhaboo.

As I said above, a werhaboo isn't just someone who thinks nazis were the good guys or a justified evil. A wehraboo can also/only be someone who overrates german military victories and/or hardware during WWII.

So stop thinking I'm claiming I like the National Socialist German Workers' Party or the actions of those who followed them (like the Wehrmacht), because, as said in the first paragraph of my second post, I DON'T, I DESPISE THEM.

Now, while I did remove the W word since it bothered you (I didn't have to in the first place), your attitude made me change my mind about about removing the "wehraboo" from my first post, so feel free to complain more.

If you are going to respond to this, at least try to include a comment of KhanlAI's post to give him actuall feedback (or just something related to the topic) as so that 6/8 comments in this post aren't fully related to a "yOU R nAZi" discussion.
