Admiral T Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 As the topic suggests, I have noticed that now ships sinking will leave a few lifeboats on the water for a while. I think this is a great detail and I would like to see it expanded in the completed game. The tabletop naval wargame I play, General Quarters 3, has rules for flotsams and lifeboats. Where, you are required to rescue the survivors or at least not run them over or machinegun them. Fail to do so will earn you atrocity points and potentially put the admiral on court martial for war crime. How does it sounds? 4
DeadlyWalrus Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Rule the Waves has a mechanic where you can order a destroyer to break off and pick up survivors from a sinking ship so it's definitely a concept that could work. The actual consequences kind of depend on how the overall campaign works, but things like prestige and morale effects, collecting intelligence (if you pick up an enemy crew), rescuing specific officers (if you're assigning named officers to your ships) are all possible just to name a few. 2
Commander Reed Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I think this might be considered when Officers and Crew are placed into the game. There could be penalties because of, for example, not enough safety for the people onboard a ship, ect.
VarangianGarde Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 That would a be fun and interesting mechanic to the game. Especially as @Nick Thomadis are working on crew mechanics and veterancy, I think it would be a good way to add to the realism of managing the Fleet as a whole.
Bigjku Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Personally this is very very low on my list. I get it but I wouldn't push this up high.
VarangianGarde Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 As priorities go, I tend to agree. I figure once the devs go into figuring veterancy during campaign mode, rescued crew stats could be imported from the battle instance to the "world map."
