Bluishdoor76 Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 (edited) Just my current personal wish list of gun turrets that I really wish were added to the game, would love to see what other people's turrets list is. Will start with Germany first: 283mm sk c/34 and c/28 30.5 cm SK L/50 France: 340mm/45 Modèle 1912 and its Quadruple variant that would been mounted in battleships Lyon and Normandie 330mm/50 Modèle 1931 130 mm Modèle 1932 quadruple and dual barrel Italy: Cannone da 381/50 Ansaldo M1934 152 mm/55 Models 1934 and 36 305 mm/46 Model 1909 Japan: Vickers 14 inch/45 41 cm/45 3rd Year Type United Kingdom: BL 15-inch Mk I BL 6-inch Mk XXIII 4.7-inch (119 mm)/45 Mk.XII twin guns Russia: Obukhovskii 12"/52 Pattern 1907 180mm Pattern 1931-1933 100 mm (3.9 in) B-34 406 mm B-37( putting this one in because despite the battleship never making it to service, her guns were built and tested.) United States: 6"/47 caliber gun 8"/55 caliber gun (Portland's configuration) 14"/45 caliber gun 16"/45 caliber gun( Colorado's turret configuration) 14"/50 caliber gun And that's really it for me, this area all the turrets in my wish-list to be added to the game in the future. Would like to see people's opinion and see what other turret designs you guys would like to see in the future. Edited December 24, 2020 by Bluishdoor76 7
CapnAvont1015 Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 (edited) All of these are great and you also reminded me of one of the two disappointments of mine with Alpha 9 and that's the lack of quad secondary guns. But aside from that here's my suggestion. I would like to see something similar to Großer Kurfürst's turrets from WOWS for German triple guns from 15inch and up. Fishyfish Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I'd really like to see a whole lot of open barbettes and armored gun houses for main battery guns for 1880s through 1900. I'll post pics later. 6
Wise Donkey Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 6"/30 mark 1, used on the 1884 USS Atlanta 4
HistoricalAccuracyMan Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 Personally, I'd really like to see more superstructures that incorporate barbettes or gun mounts. Great list of gun turrets/designs though...many of those are on my wish list as well!

Cpt.Hissy Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 From gamey perspective, it'll be good to have all that variety of turrets not "just because" or for nations, but tie them to design benefits and disadvantages. So you could pick a gun and a turret type for it, and the same gun will perform better in certain turrets and worse in others, but better turrets would be heavier, bigger in physical size, more expensive, requiring certain technologies also installed, etc. 3
Marshall99 Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 Well I would like to see more 1880-1900 gun turrets. I brought you some pictures, so you can see what I am thinking about And finally, the "open" turrets or barbettes. I think these ones would be easy to implement. In the armour management you could set the turret armour to 0 mm, so it will show only the guns, without the armour. 9

Worry_Rock Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I will always advocate for some new turrets, These are the mixed caliber main guns aboard the Pre-dreadnought USS Virginia, the twin on the bottom are 12in and the ones on top are 8in. While we may never see mixed caliber turrets at large I think these are historical and could add some cool new mechanical aspects. 5

For historical reasnons. We all know that these type of turrets are not effective, but on the other hand these turrets would add variety to the game. 4
Cdodders Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Being able to choose the turret design when choosing the weapon would be cool. Not all weapons of the same calibre were in the same design of turret. Look at the British 4.5" guns on the QE class, Illustrious class, HMS Ark Royal, Audacious class etc. Same thing with the various 6" and 4" guns/turrets 3
Cpt.Hissy Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 (edited) ^^^ same thing for any guns. Turret design was mostly made together with a ship / generation of ships to use them. Sometimes derived from previous generation. Guns could stay the same, or guns could be new but turrets old. There isn't really such a thing as "national turret shape", but a design that certain engineers came up with at certain time. Edited January 5, 2021 by Cpt.Hissy 2
Wise Donkey Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Triple 305mm turrets found on the Tegetthoff-class 5
Jatzi Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 There should be open mounts and turreted mounts and that should depend entirely on the armor you put on it. Main guns should obviously be turrets except on perhaps cl's and DD's. So maybe make it a caliber thing. 7 in plus is automatically put into an armored turret unless it's a secondary. Below that should be an open mount or an armored turret depending on turret armor and secondary armor. Like RTW really. It makes sense to me

Anyway I hope we'll have everyone favourite feature - turret size accordingly to barrel amount, so vertical layout won't be just an aestetic choise. Speaking about aestetics - possibility to choose between "french" and "britain" quads style would be extremely nice. Also, Tiger's turrets look very appealing. 2
Cptbarney Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 I love how the mode looks, but oof riveting is just bad engineering wise. Still looks very nice regardless and clearly alot of effort put into the model alone.
Cpt.Hissy Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 riveting has advantages too especially when you don't have technology to weld half meter thick plates
