choose difficulty knows only one direction, got stuck on "hard"

Hi everyone, 

in the "naval academy" menue I can choose the difficulty. Initially it was set to "normal". I clicked on it and it switched to "hard". 

Now it is stuck on "hard", no matter what I do. It remains on setting "hard". I even re-installed the game. 

I am using a mighty mouse and an iMac 2017 bootcamp windows 10.

oh ^^ I have same issue and its good to know that it has no effect. 
Some Missions are already close to impossible and a difficult lvl up would be horrible xD
