Skyguy1944 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 (edited) So, I know some of this is being addressed in newer updates, but I just want to add another voice. We've got to have an option to remove building restrictions in custom. Having your creativity limited because of "historical accuracy", while noble, can be pretty frustrating. Sometimes I just want to make something ludicrous or big, using everything already given to me. Also just allowing us to turn off weight limits altogether would be pretty sweet. Friedrich Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 These limits are really silly here. They are presumably for treaty restrictions or some such, but that's absolutely nonsense without some context provided. 1
Cptbarney Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 If i remember correctly there were a few heavies built around the 17k tonne mark anyways so that should be addressed. I want less restrictions anyways. Unless the game says otherwise (treaties etc). 3

Story is one thing, but I'm in Custom. I want to customize, darnit. (Wight limits along with the limits to barbets and towers and such. Let us be silly!) 2
Wowzery Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 I always assumed it was more a weight limit for the hull. After all, if you have a 500 ft hull and fit it with 12 x 18" main guns, 20" of armor, its a bit unreal for that hull. 1
Spitfire109 Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Id Also like to be able to go smaller. If you try to build a 30 or 40s era ship based off a real one, say the Northhampton class, youll find the UA ship to be too big.

Why even have the slider go higher if you can't use it? Just taunting me :v And It's only custom, doesn't necessarily have to be realistic, eh? 1

Although the ability to build ships overweight to a certain extend, with the consummate penalties which come along with that, would be nice. No, this is a restriction of the hull's designed displacement. The This hull can be designed for a 17kt displacement, but the game is arbitrarily restricting you to 13.5kt because... reasons. Designing a 17kt displacement ship that only uses 13.5kt of its displacement and leaves the rest as reserve would be interesting, but shouldn't be mandated by the game and in either case that's not what's happening here.
RUSS663 Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 I may be way off base, BUT I would assume it is easier for the DEV's to drop/place the current (Academy/Campaign) hulls into the Custom section. They are hard at work on the campaign mode and to overwrite the custom hulls with unlimited access with weight/displacement etc would just take man hours away from the current campaign work.
