B24LIBERATOR Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 For those of you who have been around boats, you may have noticed the light reflecting off the water on a sunny day creating a pattern on the lower areas of the hull, I was wondering if this can be modeled into the game or if it already has been (I heard some effects were removed from alpha). It would add a nice touch to the games visual element 1
Flip Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I'm betting that would be very taxing on computers. Not saying its not possible but probably not probable, especially in an engine not built from the ground up. Its one of those things that would be nice but there are so many other priories.

Many things that you see in games would be very taxing (1 frame a hour ) on your PC if they were actually done... that's why you fake them A proper procedural texture mapped globally would take care of it. FPS hit? None. More problematic would be the formula to generate said procedural texture, as in - it would be hard to actually get the right shape/look of it without relying on caustics.
Guest raat Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 It would be cool. I'm for it if it's able to be implemented without being too taxing or taking too much development time.
B24LIBERATOR Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Im glad other people are interested in the idea
312_JS Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I'm sure the overall graphics will improve in later stages of development.
