I've sunk 23 line ships in the last day or so.  21 of them had no dubs at all on board, including 12 L'Oceans.  The other two had much smaller amounts of dubs (100-200 range) than I have previously seen on any line ship.  The total reward for sinking 23 line ships was less than 300 dubs.

Can it please be confirmed that dub rewards for sinking ships have been nerfed and the reasoning behind this (other than "more grind") be explained?  Thanks.

EDIT:  Another 10 ships of mixed types sunk, including a couple of trade ships.  No dubs on any of them.  So how are players on PvE supposed to obtain Dubs now?!  No wonder the price has skyrocketed.

Open world PvE has better drops, but you do also get a reward for completing the kill mission. Maybe it has to do with the patch, that made dubloon farming impossible in kill missions. Basically you would board the enemy ship, switch and sink your own, getting around 3k-4k dubs per mission.

I can not think of anything more boring among the list of games I have on Steam, than grinding first rates for Dubs.

With ship building costing reals now shouldn't reals rewards be boosted up too?   Just wondering?

Really man some folks enjoy diffrent things, some folks like to just sale around and trade, others kill NPC's.  Just cause it's not your cake, , doesn't mean it's not others.

Really man, read the OP again. If there had been enough reward in the first three ships he wouldn't of had to waste time killing another twenty. Hence boring low reward grind that no one is going to enjoy. At least trading has an expected level of reward for the time.

Shame there isn't trading between servers, I'd happily give him half a million dubs I have no use for on the war server.

I don't have a problem with the doubloons on npc ships. When going for HDF I usually get like 850 per ship, in OW of course not every ship gives dubs, but it is not rare to get like 1k from a LGV. And nearly every 3rd frigate I sink gives like 300.

But those are no kill missions.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  There seems to be some misunderstanding here; I wasn't talking about kill missions, I was talking about OW.  In the OW, having sunk 31 ships, only 2 had any dubs.  Previously, that would have been more like 20, and the quantity of dubs would have been way higher, so something definitely seems to have been nerfed.  Low reward grind is certainly not rewarding and there's always too much of a tendency in changes to simply increase the grind which is not a good approach.

By contrast, I notice that Reals rewards for sinking ships has been substantially increased; e.g. previously you would have got received 35k for sinking an Ocean and that's now up to around 175k.  That's a welcome change, so well done devs for that at least, but it would be nice if all of these various changes, each of which are quite substantial, were actually documented somewhere so people can see what's happening and adjust their game play accordingly.
