sudobee Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Awesome, so are we getting this visual update next patch? Pretty incredible what people can do now, wont be too much longer until we can see this sort of stuff rendered in real time in our favorite games.
Grunf Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Is this a rendering demo, or trailer for a movie, or will this be in game. Would like more info on the source of the video pls.
Crossfader Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 That Tron vibe... holy shit that CGI is amazing, hope NA looks like that some day. hmmmm... NBC canceled the show, thats sucks.
Devante del Nero Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Is this a rendering demo, or trailer for a movie, or will this be in game. Would like more info on the source of the video pls. It was a show called "Crossbones", that was cancelled probably because it wasn't as popular as Black Sails. Shame too, Black Sails' visual effects are rather lacking :/
maturin Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 So much effort, talent and expense... to create something that looks so goddamn shitty. It's like taking a random civil engineer off the street, giving him a billion dollars and a team of masons, and telling him to go build a replica of Notre Dam. But then for some reason you forbid him from looking at any photographs of cathedrals or even having a single Catholic on his staff. Just goes to show you how fortunate we are with our development team.
captain silent Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 i am a fan of black sails but that breakdown sure outdo's black sails breakdown check this
maturin Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Black Sails, though, as the name suggests, actually features sails that don't look totally screwy. The animations are usually off, but they have a few good shots in that first season.
Flip Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The key thing to remember is that is all pre-rendered and takes a absolute bucket load of power to render. Those kind of visuals won't be seen in a game for a long time unless we get quantum computing
Caball Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Here is the Crossbonew RnD Collection Maybe Naval Action can get a damage model like that
theSpatchula Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 is there plans to have sails in Naval Action react like in this video? probably be super taxing on everyone hardware but its so pretty.
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Rendering like that takes an insane amount of time - hours in some cases. Maybe 10,15 years in the future? Perhaps sooner, but the state of the art for fast rendering games is very different than the state of the art for graphics for movies and television, where an artist may have weeks of computer time spent rendering effects.
theSpatchula Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Figured as much, but a man can dream haha.
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 From someone who has been gaming since the late 1980's, I'm regularly floored by how far games have come, and really looking forward to seeing what the future will bring. Dreams indeed sir! 1
Mirones Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 if the sails are flatering like that in the wind means that there are only bad sailors working on these ships. ask maturin for the long story
