 New patch is coming today.

Some parts of the patch will require gradual slow introduction into the game so they will be staggered.

  • RVR
    • Peace is still on. The deployment of new RVR mechanics will be staggered in stages.
    • RVR Flag item is already in game but do not drop - until the patch is fully stabilized
    • Port battle transport item is already in game but do not drop or cannot be bought - until the patch is fully stabilized
    • Flags and Battle transports will be initially distributed using an event, or will be given to all players as timed redeem on one of the weekends for mass real time test.
    • Description of mechanics
  • New player experience
    • New player mission is added to the game. The mission will let the player experience the beauty of the game right when he joins instead of overwhelming port UI. Player will immediately get into battle, learn by doing like in original sea trials and will have to deliver a message after a battle to a capital of his nation.
  • New player protection
    • Light protection fleets added to capitals. On War server they will attack every ship above 30BR and will ignore light traders (Including trader brig)
    • They do not drop wood chests yet (until we teach them to run away). Only home defense fleets with skull symbol drop wood chests.
  • Imported content
    • 1 New Imported ship added to the game
      • Victory 1765. The ship will go on sale as soon as Valve Approves the page
      • ETA - Today 28 May or Tomorrow 29th May
  • Cheaper Edition Update
    • We have thought a lot what would be a cheaper starter edition but unfortunately the center of the game is combat and it is impossible to cut out the content without reducing the overall quality of experience. So we decided not to cut content in the cheaper edition.
    • As a result here is the plan
      • Every current owner of the game will receive a special ship redeemable every 24 hours
      • Price for the game will be lowered (new package created by Valve)
      • New package will not contain this ship (after price drop it wont be available)
      • The ship will redeemable every 24 hours like all Imported ships but will have special conditions. This ship will not be imported. It can be captured, sold, gifted, taken over.
      • The ship is HMS Trincomalee.
      • Current Trincomalee will of course also remain as crafteable in game.

Trincomalee has a very interesting story https://forum.game-labs.net/topic/36102-hms-trincomalee/

  • Port investments.
    • Clans and large groups of people can now develop ports above their initial fixed points
    • 25 points (initially) can be added to ports using investments.
    • Every investment level gives 1 extra point to port development.
    • Investment are expensive and will require group effort
  • Woods.
    • Woods added to blueprints but are not dropping in ports yet, because wood stats are still getting rebalanced.
    • New woods can be only used in crafting (they are not available in notes or redeemables)
  • PVP and PVE
    • Hunts, Search and Destroy now also check for Steam ID, in a similar way to PVP hunt.
    • Some guns can now be picked up from sank players.
  • Exit timers: Important!
    • 1 hit timer had to go. It created 1 hour chases wasting player’s time. It also allowed holding players in battles forever. This generated lots of hate, confusion and time wasting, including neverending griefing tribunals.
    • Player now has to deliver % damage to a player to stop escaping.
    • Battle timer increased to 5 mins (but can be increased further during experimentation phrase)
    • Exit timer is up to 3 mins (from 2 mins)
  • ROE
    • Battle entry points fixed. Thanks for users for pointing this out. Previous entry points favored the attacker (which allowed his reinforcements to spawn closer to him). Now points are equal.
    • The pull circle has increased (70%) to reduce the need to go back to enter battles.

  • Flags for groups and conquest flag
    • Changed flags based on the 1799 Signal book of ship of war
      • Group flag changed to Order of Sailing flag
      • Battle group flag changed to Battle Sailing
      • AFlCjuZ.png
      • RVR/Conquest flag has changed back to Dangerous Cargo/Enemy in sight Flag (red flag)
  • Other changes
    • Admiralty now buys Loki runes at 10 doubloons per rune
    • Money Locker added to stores and allows quick conversion of reals to Money Locker and back. Money lockers will be used for Port investments
    • Imported (DLC) ships now have (I) indicator in the name to give clear indication which ships cannot be captured (lets see how it works)
    • OW speed of Home defence fleets reduced by 5% to allow passers by more escape chances
    • Slightly buffed modern version of HMS Victory
    • Increased repairs production in capitals by 50%

Critical bugs

  • Fixed bugs which spawned an NPC ship in group missions even if the group member did not join
  • Fixed bug that generated loot when sinking your own ship
  • Potential fix of the problem which sent Home defence fleets far away from their zone of operation
  • Fixed bug that did not sink players outside battle zone in some conditions.

Dozens of other changes.

WARNINGS.

Texts are not final, expect typos
Features are now and this is a big patch: expect bugs crashes and asset loss.
All losses caused by the game will be compensated.

Additional information will be provided as we go. Explanations on the mechanics of the flags and transport to port battles will be given shortly

Today Hotfix - 9th June 2020

  • Attack circle lowered from 1000m to 650m to increase importance of control perk and reduce value of the defensive tag
  • Reduced the damage threshold from 3% of hull to 2% of hull
  • Increased the time to threshold accumulation from 1 to 2 minutes
  • Implemented the potential fix of intro missions that was causing the overload of the servers.

Port battle flag is still undergoing optimization and was supposed to be deployed this week but will be delayed one more week because we had to switch to the intro mission crashes. Peace will continue until next week.

Not a fan of 55 points ports becoming 80 points, giving us opportunity to have max investments on everything and unifying different configurations for the different ports. Most importantly, now investments have no purpose anymore as every ship will have the same.

For the rest... it sounds exciting! Really looking forward to trying it soon.

Do I understand this correctly : Ship blueprints have new woods, but the woods dont drop in pürts yet ? This means the new woods can be bought in ports soon and dont eg rquire shed blueprints themselves ?

Guess this will have quite negative effect on crafting as business, as Trincomalee is one of the most built ships in game (besides DLC and traders)

Looks like a very good update. Looking forward to experiencing it.

I only wish you wouldn't do a 1st rate DLC.

For us PvEers it is absolutely useless unfortunately. You sail 5th rate like one day before leveling up and never look back unless doing some stuff for fun. Rewards for 5th rate PvE missions are not worth to waste time as oposed to 1st rate ones. Also all RvR (except port defences, but you use 4th rates or shallow, nothing between) is done with 1st rates.

So thanks for gift. They are always nice. It is just expectations were higher. At least Leo would be nice

Well, since we have a player-based economy, a new market will have to come up... maybe now OP snows will the most crafted ship :P

One more question: wouldn't it be fair to let us reset port points, too ? With the previous limit many spent the leftover port points on stuff they might want to redo with added port point...

Patch sounds nice overall. Eager to get further details on the new RvR mechanics, see if @admin has provided some new counterbalancing ideas to avoid winner-takes-all and somehow encourage players to distribute along factions. Happy about the Trincomalee import.

So, you lied when you said you wouldn't add ships of the line as DLC content?

You lied when you came out with the "in our opinions third rates aren't ships of the line" speech, doubling down on a thing such as this not happening?

(Will provide the exact quotes if you'd like.)

The open sea as it is, is just a Redoutable spam. Prior to adding that ship, you'd see Endymions, Wasas, Trincomalees, Indefatgables, Agamemnons, Ingermanlands, Pirate Frigates, all sorts of stuff. Now why would anybody sail that stuff? Because they can't crew anything bigger. The moment they can crew something bigger, they do. Now the baseline is Redoutables, with some Christians and bigger stuff mixed in. You have destroyed the variety and with it made it near impossible to get enjoyable 5th (or even 4th) rate gameplay as any frigate fight found now is almost certainly against a low-skill, new player who doesn't have book slots done nor a core understanding of mechanics.

A week after you release the Victory, that's gonna be the spamboat. And for the exact same reason as the Redoubt is the current spamboat. Everybody, for free, can have three DLC Vics in their dockyard at any given time. No expense, no risk, nothing, for a ship which will overpower everything but crafted first rates.

I get that you need to make money, but it absolutely blows my mind that you cannot forsee the result of actions like this being a reduction in lifespan for your product. It's the equivalent of taking out a payday loan at obscene interest - gotta buy that expensive pair of shoes now, doesn't matter if I'll have less money later.

So you also lied about the value of the boat we'd be receiving. As the value of the Trincomalee as a DLC would be approximately $0 before you added lineships as DLC and is worth exactly $0 now.

What a shame.

Oh yeah, and where's the de Ruyter that was promised?

yes ^^ especialy the ruyter part

I am very pleased with the overall scenario update. Obviously some things are not on my beach but is okay.

Finally the %% tag is in play. For that, and being a Privateer lover, i thank you. I'll have to up my game and make sure i do tag correctly else prey escapes.

The RvR... no idea... will have to check eventually.

Low rank home defense fleet... okay. Just 2 cents. Say a zone has 10 home fleets. Make 5 deep, 5 shallow.

New player experience - first mission - has a flair of HMS Pickle voyage to bring the news home after Trafalgar. Kind of cool.

Too many details to write all down atm. But, THANKS FOR THE TRINC ! :)

The community made the way free for big DLC ships by buying the redoutable on mass. Financially its a success so I get why the add more and bigger DLC ships but for the game its very very bad.

Played 1 week ago and in my 5/5 inger with elite spanish etc I had to run away from a redout for 50 Minutes because it was faster sailing downwind. Thats the state of gameplay right now and you described it pretty good but it wont change anymore. Draw your own consequences from it

The community also killed small businesses by shopping at Walmart.

I didn't buy the Redoutable because I vote with my wallet. Bought all the frigates and 4th rates previously mostly to support the game I was enjoying yet never really used them for anything past (S) wood.

You are 100% right though, we brought this upon ourselves as a community for buying the pay2win like a bunch of sheep.
