Friendly unit shattering, officer dead?

When a friendly unit is shattered, does the officer get killed and removed as well?  Found I won the Nassau Assault mission, but had a few units shatter during the fight.  Now I can't find these officers.  Assuming the officer is dead as well?

Shuttered unit is equal with dead unit. Yes, officers are dead.
