"Some parts are badly placed" error

Hello all,

 

    I am new to the game and so far there is a lot to like. However, in the ship designer I often place a main gun and the game tells me that "Some parts are badly placed" and will not allow me to continue. When I click the auto design button it will put the same gun in the same spot that I had wanted to. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug? Any feed back is appreciated.

Oh that usually occurs when a second object of the same things hovers over the object you just laid down, i would simply just click off the object or piece and go back so its no longer selected and it should solve the problem, otherwise check to see if anything is obstructing the object or if its placed badly.

The documentation that comes with the ship designer is, well, nonexistent.  As a consequence, you have no way of knowing what is, or really isn't, an error.

Sometimes this false obstructed message can get sort of stuck and just won't go away. In that case you can pick up the affected object and place it down again and that so far always worked for me.
