After 5 years of open world development you dump a fundamental part of it. I do not know how I feel about that. All the tribunals and complaints about trolling in screening battles is the product of the ROE. You might aswell make the game a lobby based game. Patrols and port battles are the most advertised parts of pvp. Port battles are now basically a lobby and patrols are also a lobby only that you are forced to sail to the "matchmaking" part of it. 

More and more pvp content is being made into "lobby" content and the open world content is solely single player/coop content. Not really much pvp in rvr anymore is there. Maybe that is a good thing but then you should do it right. Make naval actions an open world singleplayer game and make the multiplayer a lobby based game. After 5 years the open world is simply not working. Maybe its time to face the music.

It looks interesting. More so because I reckon naval action would be easy to mod.

This one and the transportation item make the defence more historical, more realistic. When you have a fleet in a port this fleet should be able to enter in a battle to defend the port. When you want to attack one port it should cost the same to try to conquer Cartagena de Indias or a simple port: no more extra missions for be able to attack a big port. Just a fleet. This news are approaching more to that. That's fine. Good move.

An addition to the immersion of this game, well done. Best port of each one could be a new important port, no matter if they are with 25 points or +50, we can decide, we can build our "Empire".

They have been planning to release a cheaper version since 2019, this isn't because of quarantine.

Still missing knowing what the changes announced on the new woods will be, where they will leave the "old" ones, and given that it seems that they want to eliminate the set of naval movements prior to the PBs ... I want some of the devs I resolved a question:

What gaming experience do you have in store for a relatively casual gamer who primarily uses DLCs?

What useful things can a DLC player do for his faction?

I hope that the removal of communication does not apply to all battles.  Please, let’s try extending the ignore function to inside battles.  It’s a very simple fix and might help without destroying our international communication inside battles.

I spend my time trading and fishing on the War Server, and I'd have many interesting conversations with those that have attacked me.  I’ve never experienced any toxic chat in battle, but can’t count the number of times I’ve read offensive comments in Nation chat.  When a player is repeatedly annoying I use the Ignore feature.  Others have been so hurt by the insults they have received in Nation chat that they have changed nations.   If players do not respond to me I stop texting them.

I appeal to you, don’t remove one of this key aspect of the game.  I’ve met lots of great personalities here in NA; some of them are from foreign nations.  This is by far the best online community I’ve known.  Reducing our pleasant communication will not improve NA.

Limiting chat between Nations will not reduce the irritating comments I’ve seen inside my Nation.  I use the ignore function for that.

Say thanks to griefers and maybe next time you can foretell this and tell your allies or clan members to stop abusing mechanics kicking them from clans or alliance if you think they are doing a wrong thing. 

Just like you say - it was foretold.


I am foretelling another thing
If the level of abuse and toxicity in chat does not start falling starting now - all communication with enemies will be removed like in WOW.. people will say KEK and lkjsdfljwoeijow .. and that's all you will read from enemies. Hope this foretold warning will allow you as a community member to push more friendliness from allies.

Overall the plan for communication moderation is the following

  • Clans officers will be able to moderate their alliance members (can ban them from chat)
  • Top officers in leading clans in the nation will be able to moderate national chat for all clan members.

Mixed bag on the changes. Maybe this has been addressed somewhere on the forum, but I have a question--

New trees for ship construction. Will this make future ships better than those with seasoned woods?

Before seasoned woods, I had 20 ships. Seasoned woods made them all obsolete instantly. Is the same thing going to happen now to my current fleet of seasoned wood ships? Do you realize how long it took to trade, grind, etc. to build a fleet? Then have it out of date in one day?

Not sure about that change...

I See two big problems with axing Screening:

1. sure there will be less griefing? If new system of doing hostility will need time (Admin says 3-4 hours) wasting enemys time will be a Thing again ...

2. If new hostility needs 3-4 hours night timers will suck much more, because then you cant just do the hosti at the beginning or the end of the Timer, you need to stay awake 3-4 hours ...

@admin please make it so only friendly clans can take hostility from ports that the clan own, as this will stop alot of griefing and also make sure clans within nation need some sort of cooperation to stay on friendlist.

From other Russian, but will stop you harrassing weaker nation, but will not protect you from other nations..

Hey, we are just a new russian clan and want to conquer some ports ... whats wrong with it?

Its Not oir fault that every Nation is weak compared to our beloved mother russia 😁

Not sure about that change... 

New trees type is clearly to give incentive for continuation of the grind, trade, crafting etc. and perhaps an attempt to fix issues related to introduction of S woods in the first place. On a positive side, we might see lifting of the S wood grind burden. At least I believe that is in order.

Let us have flag mechanic for hostility pb, if the hostility pb is won by the attacker, this set the Real pb deciding for the control of the port the next day (without screening possible)

Flags were tons of fun & action + limited the defense for overextanded nations. Bring that back !

 

+ Bring back international alliances so rvr fleets from different nations can team up vs a larger one, not just by griefing, multiflipping & interference but by proper gameplay (combined pb / hostility)  Trafalgar was not just France vs Brits, Spain played his part too,  lets have this option in game !

may i ask you  please to explain how that flag system worked? I just know that hostility system that we are using

I dont know how many influence danish have in russia. Just wanted to say that it Sounds a bit Strange accusing us for trying to get a new crafting port after an alliance of russian and danish forces Take EVERYTHING from us ..

Not sure about that change... 

I don't see why a fleet is suddenly "obsolete" because there appears a new ingredient which enables a few percent more of this or that in stats. You can still fight splendidly in your "obsolete" ships. You just have to trust in their and your capabilities, as before.

Well, you just need to Look at the real regatta sailing Sport. Sometimes class-rules get changed and a new ship Design ist allowed (for example carbon masts) ... everytime this happens all serious regatta sailers Change to the new design as fast as possible, because in a Close competition you need every possible Advantage ...

Same in Portbattles ...

They are talking about repercussions on PVP server, a competitive environment.

In PVE server, against AI, there is almost no challenge or competition.

I know the difference, yet it is not true we have no challenges nor competition on PvE peace server.

And what I said about ships still being good for fighting with, while they may no longer be the creme de la creme, applies to both servers.

It's a psychologic problem that people think they always need the VERY BEST ships so they can compete.

Some of my best performances I did in a standard 3/5 Bellona during half a year, or in a captured grey De Ruyter. Oh yeah. Grey. Now compare this to that whining about premium ships being "obsolete" because owner knows there is (s) wood now, or a new wood sort coming, or a port bonus possible which is better by one tier...

Equipment fetishism.
