Starting this thread to get an idea of what the community thinks of current mechanics (-issues).

Post below additional changes / suggestions youd like me to add to the poll

This could open up more exploits though. E.g. tagging an alt account with your fleet and then locking the battle instance for actual enemies.

please MORE, we are almost done with the new player mission and FPS optimization for it so would like to start planning for next patches early.

There should be a cost for a clan holding a port, regardless of a timer

 

Changing the timer should incurr a cost and the time a clan sets for a port should be uniform for any ports they hold

 

Hostility missions need to be fairly expensive and hostility should not be able to be hidden by a basic cutter or finish in 2 mins flat

Hostility missions costing something is the best way to kill rvr for small nations.

Think before you post, it would be great.

Add please. 

A). XP when crafting repairs, upgrades and cannons.

B). Good trading goods spawning also and randomly in non region capital ports.

C). Santa cecilia and Diana as crafteable ships.

D). Rewards for achieving a succesful port defense/attack.

I think we need a bigger number of production buildings than we need outposts.
Make comon resources (coal, iron, oak, stone, fir) cost no upgrade points - rare woods would still cost - and some outposts could be liberated as 1 port would fit all necessary resources to build ships.

I think we need a bigger number of production buildings than we need outposts.

as those are two different topics id like to seperate them

Thus:

I dont think a fixed fleet setup would be good, it creates a static choice of ships, i would rather propose alot more varied values of Points lost if the ship sink, to give an alot more advantage and less risk if you bring lighter ships vs bringing 1st/2nd rates that could ruin the whole battle if the ship is lost.

ill make a quick list of suggested points for rated ship

+ Would mean points gained if you sink a ship of that rate

- Would mean points the opponent loses if he loses said rated ship

 

With this system i believe people would love to use more 3rd rates or 4th rates, on could even argue that the 4th rates should give + or - points to make full value of the smaller ships and give a BIG reason to use them instead of spamming 2nd rates and 3rd rates for the Meta. Also even the BR should determine the values of the points gained/lost when a ship sinks so it would create a reason to choose the hms leaktory over l'ocean, or indefatigable over agamemnon

I am ok with hostility missions costing doubloons, but I'm also ok with them being free as they are now.

 

as for outposts, I am perfectly fine buying a DLC for more outposts, but if it did just cost reals/dubs I'd also like that too.

A really good post, hope to have many people vote to get a good idea of what we all think.

the problem i see it is when should it stop? you will never have enough outposts, so IF we get 2 more outposts, we will still in 1 year find a post thats asking for yet 2 more outpost slots. I don't agree that it should be more, there needs to be a limit.

Right now, very few nations matters in RvR due to a splitted playerbase (soon 12 nations) and a high pop in one nation.

To counter this, it should be developed a diplomacy system allowing minor nations to team up.

Would Wind Boosts fit into this thread? 
I think they should be changed to work like zones in the map instead of clickable icons. Something similar to Patrol Zones so when you enter you get the boost immediately and keep it as long as you remain inside the wind boost zone. Two ships sailing through the exact same course should have the same wind.
