Admiral Murl Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The game looks pretty. The only ship i've tried is the yacht and it handles as I would expect. The audio is ok and could definitely use some work. The water and ship models are very well done. The big gripe I have is the way you adjust range for the cannons. Using the mouse to aim your guns and also to look around is not the way to do it. If I fire a cannon to gauge range and then pan around or do anything that moves the mouse then the ranging shot is worthless. Often you need to move the mouse left/right to aim your guns.. well in the process of doing that the verticle aim gets screwed. To me that needs to be changed. I'd rather use the mouse scroll wheel. Or any other key combo or something that locks your cannons into a range that can be raised or lowered at notch intervals. Other than that I think the game looks beautiful and is fun to play. I hope the open world is engaging and fun.

Admiral Murl Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 If you hold alt while aiming a broadside you can pan around your ship and releasing alt will snap back to your cannon aiming. This is true and it does help for aiming. There are other situations though where your cannon range gets knocked off. Like when the ship is listing hard one way or the other and then trying to repostion the cannons where they were prior to the list. The control is just very touchy. A tiny movement is the difference between hitting and missing, especially at long range. I guess you could turn down mouse sensitivity but then that would also effect your camera movement speed as well. Maybe it's gonna need some getting used to is all.

I had to set up a separate DPI for NA (400X, 200Y), and if Im in it, the aiming still feels a tiny bit too sensitive, camera movement still is a bit fast, and I have to scroll 5 times across my 60cm mousepad to use menus.Mouse sensitivity options is definitely something they should look into in the future.
SirWili Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Actually the cannons keep the elevation where you have set them, even if you go out from the aimingmode. All of the cannon positions remember the last elevation where you left them. Most of the time you don't even have to aim between the salvos, just take 1-2 correction shots and blast away. Yacht is a small ship and waves are rocking it hard, its the price which you have to pay from using a fast and agile ship. Once you go for beigger ships, you will notice that aiming becomes easier, but gets manoveuring harder. The cannons are WAY too accurate atm. In reality you could harly hit a ship within 200-300 meters away, now you can snipe from 1000 meters.
Galileus Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 In reality In reality you couldn't ragequit the game because of inaccurate cannons and luck-based gameplay.
Admiral Murl Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 In reality you couldn't ragequit the game because of inaccurate cannons and luck-based gameplay. hahahaha Ragequitting, such is life in the multiplayer gaming world. I've gotten fairly used to the aiming now. My range does not keep if the ship lists. If i'm aiming and my ship rocks so the side i'm shooting from is way up or down then the cannons stay down or up. They don't return. That's my biggest gripe and it makes playing on the violent sea map very difficult. My experience with that is I fire a ranging shot and then look through the scope to see where it lands. If my ship rocks hard while looking through the scope then when I return to aim mode my aim has been moved... It happens to me repeatedly. But other than that this game is pretty awesome. Not worth 40 bucks yet but one day it will be... fingers crossed. Just had an epic battle that was probably the most rewarding experience i've had gaming in a looong time. At this point i've worked my way up to the snow and it's been a blast thus far.
