Ahoy,

earlier today i attacked a Russian raider off the spanish coast. A Spanish wasa joined my side since he wanted to get rid of that raider too. Joining my side he now sailed under a Swedish flag, and his own fort would now shoot at him and me both, since it takes side of the attacked player.

Can something be done about this, since its quite unrealistic that a Spanish fort sides with a russian raider?

Suggestion: either the fort takes no side in fights between nationalities other then its own, or it should be able to figure out that the side getting Spanish reinforcments the side it should support.

From gameplay point of view, there is nothing wrong. The Spanish guy gave up his own nationality during the time of the battle, flying the Swedish flag. Therefore he was a legitimate target for the fort.

As long as there can be only 2 sides in a battle, the mechanics must consequently work this way.

up there i named two options that would solve it, there are probably more. Im ok with the fort shooting me in this example. But it should switch targets when a Don joines my side.

A fort should shoot any ship of a nation they are at war with, so in NA all but the own nation.

A fort can only judge which nation a ship is by the flag. So far, so good.

I would love to see more than 2 parties joining fights and I would love to see the forts firing always at the nearest ship, that is not of its own nation (which is shown by the flag)

Tab screen knows wich nation you are showing the right rank in battle. I dont see any reason why a fort shouldn't be able to acces the same information, without adding more then 2 sides in battle.

But why does the Spanish fort decide to help the defending - Russian in this case - side?

It did not defend the russian, it attacked the aggressor

Admin has acknowledged it is an issue and has promised a fix next week.

I was the spanish player who joined to @Durin in battle. Of course my ship took Swedish flag and the russian player hide under the spanish fort. I understand we were the attackers but I am spanish player so there is no sense in a spanish fort attacking me when I am attacking a russian player in spanish waters. In the end the russian escaped because this.

you are not a spanish player. you joined a swede battle, you became swede.

Which is ridiculous and comes off as lazy coding (since the tab pop-up knows his spanish rank)
