Celtiberofrog Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) How about that option : XP carry on running after top rank next step is a Star attached to your rank Each additional Star gives more crew capacity, higher Leadership level. Result : A multiple stars rank player can command larger Fleet with heavier vessels. Today an admiral can get 1150 crew max, tomorrow a multiple stars admiral could get 2000 crew max ?! Tomorrow this happy stars admiral could set up his own fleet with 2 Bucs + one third rate !! I'd love coming accross a "player heavy fleet" ! A Star admiral could impact the OW battles if he brings 3 heavy vessels on his own !! PvE players would certainly love being able to build heavier fleets. Generaly, this option could imply not seeing mostly trader fleets & escort, but war fleets also ! (more fun in OW) Exploit ?, none cause maxi Indiaman fleets will remain the same, restricted by maxi number of ship in fleet. Unless this star level option could offer a step for a 4th ship in fleet as well ? cheers Frog Edited February 3, 2020 by Celtiberofrog 2
Celtiberofrog Posted February 3, 2020 Author Posted February 3, 2020 Each few high rank players would mean also his higher BR capacity to bring in OW battles in his possible own fleet. Would that create problems ? what kind of exploit could it entail ? 1
Yoha Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 I think most Admirals would chose to utilize all available pvp perks when taking a ship to battle, and not extra fleet perks. You probably would not see more than 1 fleet ship being used per Admiral (outside of trading).
Celtiberofrog Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 Thank you for this comment. Perks are there for sure and they do imply restrictions. Nevertheless, I still think that it would be a new fun for some players to command more lethal fleets. (even if the admiral ship has weaker perks). Although it is available, today very few players would sail in OW his own fleet to fight. (Today players traders fleets are mostly fitted to escape with minimum dammages). The "player fleet" option might have some potential to be more utilized for different roles. In any cases, the main idea of this suggestion is to give a sense for XP to carry on running and give more depth for ranks achievements. What type of rewards or "advantages" to get with new high rank (stars) ? The crew capacity or Leadership level could be the rewards, What type of other attractive rewards could there be ? Extra dock ? very rare books ? when gaining stars to your rank. Cause here it's easy to acknowledge the numerous positive effects in NA community to see new high rank players (with stars). One being to recognize those "experienced" players as some "shepherds" for new players to rely on, against wolves 8)) 1
Sea Archer Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Right now I am Vice Admiral, so one more rank to go, but since I can fully crew a l'ocean, I really don't care about my rank or crew. Not sure if your stars will have that much effect. Though you could make golden stars for like 100k xp from pvp and silver stars for 100k xp from ai, but without increasing crew. It will just show how successful a captain is.
Farrago Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 A special Admirals flag would be a nice benefit that wouldn’t change gameplay. 2

Ok for you, same here. Now, there are so many players that have spent thousands of hours in NA. There will be soon lots of these players, since the recent wipe, with extra XP far beyond their last top rank. It's a pity to see the amount of over-XP that will be running for nothing. The here suggestion is meant to create additional ranks with additional effects, that's all. 1

Just to give more depth in ranks scale as well as rewarding hardcore players (without any impact in gameplay) Edited February 4, 2020 by Celtiberofrog 1
Navalus Magnus Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) Imo the ability to command more crew would make sense, only if options for controlling ai fleet ships and thier actual behaviour in combat instances were enhanced significantly (e.g. setting specific routes to sail). But this would take NA in the direction of UA: AoS. Edited February 4, 2020 by Navalus Magnus 1

Yep ! I thought about such possibility (necessity) to improve the actual "fleet command panel", it's in Dev's hands whether there is a potential coding field to elaborate further this fleet control feature, or not. In some extense, yes, one could imagine a player controlling his fleet with much more "flying view" & mini-map survey, like in UA:AoS. Actually it would be awesome to have a feature to switch from your different vessel control !! Edited February 4, 2020 by Celtiberofrog 1
Yoha Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 I would rather have the XP earned as an Admiral be converted to free XP that I could spend on unboxing ships. 1
Celtiberofrog Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 Yep, another idea ! Now will today's extra useless XP be implemented by Dev's with new rewards, new ranks or any specific features ? I dunno whether it is feasible or not.
