Is this a bug? Why a DLC 3rate ship is better than 2rate Christian? Redoutable has a smaller BR then Christian.

Maybe it’s worth removing S wood from DLC ships?

P.S. I love DLC and have all of them but it is too much I think.

Why do you compare normal woods with seasoned woods?

Because Seasoned wood is free for DLC. All DLC ships build from S wood.

I don't think the stats are finalized yet. Wait until the ship is available in game.

I think it's time to panic. When it goes on sale it will be late for everyone.

Do you have words and you can say what you mean? You compare 1451 (S) wood for Christian (8kk reals) vs FREE seasoned wood on DLC?

its not "free" wood, you have to actually pay real money for it, its not pay to win if you can get that sort of wood without buying anything.

Yes - I mean that the cost of ships is not a factor if we're comparing combat performance.

For the comparison to be fair the baseline needs to be fair - same woods/bonuses/knowledge slots etc

The ease at which a Seasoned wood (with rng port bonuses) Redoubtable is attainable VS a seasoned wood Christian is a different comparison/conversation altogether.

I agree. You have to compare on the same basis. After that, you can compare the terms of availability or price one has to pay for these ships - but that's another story.

Don't worry, she'll be a beast at release and most likely nerfed in a few weeks barely matching a fourth rate....

Lol no if they did that all the other dlc ships would be the weakest ships of their rates. Requin should still be a 5th rate and most of the dlc ships are strong and not the weakest in their rate of ships.

In lobby based game - yes, agreed. But here we have OW with economical life, so when you should use the case most likely happens.

But still - this decision is bold enough (or even mad). With such stats (88 guns on 74-gunner) and availability of Seasoned Woods everyone will buy Redoutable, even if the price for it will be more expensive than the game itself (I expect around 1.5 - 2 times higher than Rattvisan/Leopard). Simply because it will be new standard for PB and especially screening.
And after that stats can be nerfed of course.

P.S. And because it will be financial success devs will most probably consider that move more than reasonable to repeat with adding another 2nd and 3rd rates DLC

Redoutable is 500 tons heavier than Christian and being designed by Sane is faster (its a third rate) and by current design paradigm third rate should be faster than 2nd rate. Once and if variable wind strength is implemented this will change (but this would make redoutable even faster in heavy weather)
Implacable is even stronger weapon wise (crafted ship)

But they are both not better than Christian. Christian is still awesome and strong in many regards (including guns and crew)

Redoutable , Duguay Troyin (Implacable), De Ruyter are late third rates which were designed in the time when Admiralties learnt to make the most out of the maximum of keel lenght. This realisation has allowed to push maximum guns into maximum possible length (limited by trees) creating the final generations of wooden beasts
One deckers like Hebe, Pomone, Endymion and Constitution
Two deckers like Redoutable, Temeraire with 80 guns and more
Three deckers with 120 guns and more

These design advances has made 2nd rates obsolete, they did not have enough guns three deckers should carry but had an extra deck which 3rd rates did not have.
These design advances also made the rate (class) system obsolete. British abandoned it soon after.
