Siranui Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) I have just spent twenty minutes repeatedly disassembling and reassembling a destroyer to try and find out what about it the game does not like about it. I am still none the wiser. I suspect the front tower, but seeing as there is literally two places I can put it, patience levels are low and I've had to step away for a cup of tea and a biscuit. I cannot stress how aggravating this aspect of the game is. Can the game please consistently highlight WHICH part(s) it is objecting to, or - sensibly - perhaps not allow them to be placed in the first instance? After a day of playing around, the ship design is fun, but the UI makes things take three times longer than they really should. Grappling with a poor UI is not content. Could we please have components and problem components better highlighted? Some manner of button for changing all primary, secondary or casement gun calibres at once would also be an absolute wonder, as it is currently a chore to place three turrets, only to find a forth doesn't quite go, then have to manually remove and replace each one. Maybe also tell us what funnel cap we need too, instead of us having to try one or two of them at random, then do mental arithmetic to figure out what we really need. And the ability to add armour an inch at a time, instead of sitting there, clicking sixty times, would reduce the risk of arthritis. Thank-you. Edited January 26, 2020 by Siranui
Siranui Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 Additional commentary: "Well, it was alright last time! ^$%£^£$!!!" I have repeatedly had issues where I have hit 'retry' on a mission, my prior ship is loaded... and some bits are 'badly placed'. Well, it was ok last time we launched! Particularly a problem with main guns on fore and aft towers.
Knobby Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 You can just type any armor value in those boxes
Cptbarney Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 you can just type the value in for armour by clicking on the number btw. also post pictures as they show a lot and words are far harder to decipher (also they allowus on the forums to identify the problems a lot quicker. I've rarely if ever had a problem with building ships so, again images are needed.
Siranui Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 I appreciate that I can type numbers in, but I would like to see the incremental cost/mass increase. Typing the number in five times is also more bother than it needs to be. A +1" button resolves that.

I'm not against it if it doesn't clutter an already complex UI even further and siphons away development time needed for the myriad of critical issues. You're asking for an extra feature that will save 500 milliseconds each time you build a ship, which shouldn't be often once the campaign comes out. Just add 0.5 or 1 to the armor once, and now you know the additional weight of armor. Why not just have a tooltip that shows armor weight per thickness for main belt, main deck, etc.? Otherwise, I agree with the issue with the current UI's unfriendliness. Edited January 27, 2020 by roachbeef
Abbey kuhic Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Hey there! I’ve had my fair share of dealing with body aches from sitting the wrong way. A few years ago, I started noticing that when I slouched at my desk or crossed my legs for too long, my back would scream at me by the end of the day. Even standing for hours with uneven weight on my feet would do a number on my knees. It seems small, but how we position our body makes a big difference in how we feel overall. And for arthritis, those poorly placed postures can seriously worsen joint pain over time. Take care!
