SnovaZdorowa Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 sorry my bad english The lack of repairs is the scourge of this game. imho No repairs to go to the PvP, no repairs to continue fights and have to go back to the port, all these races on merchant ships to other capitals... I suggest to add surrogate repairs to the game. Capture an enemy ship (npz or player) and scrap it on the sails and boards. Recruit part of the boarded crew, search the cockpit and find there some rum, sink the rest. Surrogate repairs weigh more, they can't be handed over or sold, but they're no longer a factor that limits the player completely. The scrapping takes some time, during which the ship is stationary, the longer you're down (probably under fire), the more you get. @admin, it's just one extra button in the interface and a little programming. Number of repairs is function of the characteristics of the destroyed ship, victory does not count, doubloons and module are not dropped you just get the opportunity to repair your ship and continue fighting. 3

But i agree with you on this subject there should be other ways of getting repairs then going back to port if you cant capture it from players. Captains on long voyages usually had to make repairs at sea with materials they could find. There should be a way to lay anchor close to the shore send your crew in longboats to harvest materials and use them to repair the hull / rigging. To simulate crew members rowing to the shore etc you could lock down the ship for 5 minutes until you can move so it would be a risky maneuver 1

Celtic Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I see this making the ganking situation worse - if a ship can sit outside a harbour continually sinking nubs it'll just continue to accrue repair supplies and be in no real danger

So if you don't like the situation then fix it by selling reps rather than expecting others to fix it for you. We don't need a new kind of rep. What's next, free unlimited crew in the OW so you don't have to use extra crew, rum, or a port to replenish?

In my opinion the repairs in battle are much too high and no captain would be able to repair a ship, heavily damaged in battle, outside a proper shipyard. Therefore I refuse any extra repairs, apart from the usual loot you can get. 1

Raiders run a high risk of being attacked in enemy territory, like it should be. But they should not be able to stay and repair for an unlimited time. 2

LA torture. LA Mona. Great corn and probably tumbado are the only ports you really need repairs in high amount. Due that's the usually pvp area and everyone is there. I can see that you can atleast buy repairs in LT (the prize is maybe a different story but they are aviable). Also I do like this behavior that people craft things for people. If you now use this extra repair also on npcs people will probably sail out with no reps. Grape an npc. Loot it entirely and don't need to buy something. People that craft will have hard time to sell anything and the whole circle of people crafting selling and getting used and rebuild will be destroyed or very down. If you fight normally there are only 4 variants in this game. 1. You fight repair alot and die due enemy is better. 2. You repair kill enemy get some repairs back and due graping and boarding 3. Enemy is not a thread runs only and you don't need to use alot of repairs. 4. You have a great fight used all your repairs. Survive it. But have to sail back due no private time left. I personally never run out of repairs between fights. I also have to say I don't mind sailing back to rearm it actually. It's part of the game. 1
