So I had a 1v1 in 5th rates and I shot a few broadsides which I just can't quite understand why they did as little as they did. Video of it is below.

Basically what heppens in the next 10 seconds of the video is me shooting a broadside registering 17 hull hits on my screen but it odoing pretty much no dmg to him. It was full 32pd Carros on my Trinc and he is a Teak/WO Endy.

I would love to know if this is some sort of bug or someting intentional I don't understand about the game.

Answers much appreciated as I hate not being able to prtedict what happens in a certain situation especially in PvP

had it happening a few times too, mostly when side to side touching each other as in the situation above

is there over-pen in this game?

I wasn't touching him tho but maybe I was too close. Will keep an eye out in future if it is normal when being super close.

I believe this happens when you are not hitting the sides but actually hitting his deck with your top guns. I know trincos more than anyone and would never do a close pass like that leeward of an Endymion. Very common thing in dueling Endymions. Its a common situation to get into and I recommend not chasing him into the wind but letting him tack while you get further upwind and then turn downwind to use your other side. You should not loose any wind on him because he looses all his energy tacking and you don't. Its frustrating I know but imo you should never try killing an endy no matter the build with one side with your trinco. If the player is competent there is no chance anyway and there is nothing to complain about. Its a far heavier ship simply because its hull is far better for deflection shots and a lower profile in general. Endy will hammer a trinco with equal builds and skills 9 times out of 10 and contrary to what most people say it is by no means an even fight.

actually I would say never tack behind a ship like you are doing there because you only get yourself into the same situation again. People do it because they have carros and reload but the issue is that by the time they position themselves even 24s with doubles will be loaded no problem. Its just 2 ships turning around in circles looking like retards. I really wish tacking was stalled more in general. Turn rates are just to fast on some ships. I know I am one of the only people that likes 2 hours 1v1s so maybe its ok.
