Henry Long Castle Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Ok time for some feedback i guess! I believe that gusts are way too powerful atm. Also why do we see them on our maps? Maybe it would be better if we could actually see them turning the surface of the sea a darker color. This would encourage players to look around the ow and "chase" these gusts. Just like it is happening in sailing races today. Also, Gusts in my opinion last for way too long and boost the speed way to much. I think that Gusts should only give a bonus up to 30% speed and last for 10-60 seconds. 1
Teutonic Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 currently, it seems they are only "shown" to the player when they find them, and other players that haven't "found them" don't see them. I'd much prefer if it was a "zone" on the map seen by all and it should generally always be in areas away from land to allow for those empty dead water space on the map to be traversed quickly. as soon as you "leave" the trade wind zone it should immediately stop the speed boost. 5
Severus Snape Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 When this was announced I thought it would be like a trade wind type of thing located on the map. Seems that was too high tech. Current iteration takes a pretty good idea and does it badly. 4 months for this? 5
Kristopher Killumbus Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 I agree with Henry Long Castle. Shorter duration and visible in OW only. Personally I don't see this as a great new addition to the game at all. More testing required but we shall see how it goes. 1
Sea Archer Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Wind must be the same for all players in the same location. Charging your ship with a gust has nothing to do with sailing. If you like establish zones with more and other with less wind, which may slowly move across the map, but not these magical gusts. 1
Williamsen Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Im a PVE player. The only thing I have against them is the nerf to the doubloons of the delivery missions. Goodbye doubloons. I will not grind for you again if you keep being impossible to get. 1
DeRuyter Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 My response in the Patch thread: Great to see implementation of weather and variable winds. Could use tweaks though. Went out in a Prince and caught I gust that had me going 50 knts @90 degrees! So it was a bit more than 50% greater than the normal speed. That kind of boost implies storm level winds and we should be shortening sail. Seems a bit too much, but ok it is to reduce travel time I get it. But it lasts way too long. Gusts really should be just a spot on the map that everyone benefits from by being there not a moving zone that travels with you when you hit the button. Should really be in a certain direction too. You could leave the markers on the map for visualization. Leaving the gust as a zone on the map, which could be large or small, might just take care of the ganking fears as well. AFK sailors could still miss the area just like irl if you are not keeping a lookout for better wind. 2

Small spots that give you a small boost in speed while you are in or very close to them. 1
